It's alive. Call shenanigans all you want, but I'm telling you, it's true!

Let's ask Teh Lag:

"Teh Lag replies:

Before anyone asks, the green vaguely cylinder-shaped object in the bottom few pics is the 3p model of the force beam. Don't worry, you won't be seeing that on the ground when the mod is released.

This is looking very nice, keep up the great work!

So I take it that there will only be 4 weapons per map, right?

8, total. Power, Plasma, Wave, Havoc, Force, Super Missile, Spazer, and Solar. We'll be revising the HUD for the additional weapons.

You'll be starting with just Power, and one undecided one, or maybe just Power. We want to use just two slots like Halo's weapon system so we can have the weapons in all gametypes and allow you to swap any weapon for whichever replacement you want. We will be using a color/shape system for the 3p model so you can tell what it is on the battlefield and it's not just invisible ;).

I'll be working diligently to revise the problems with the homing that is on the RC1 version, and we should have Phendrana Shorelines finally available to play along with the revised mod on the currently available maps. Lightning needs to get his hard drive fixed before that point, however, so that might take a little while.

Man you're just making me want to take up Metroid Prime again really badly and I know I can't :( (bleh, I need to just go buy a used gamecube and get it out of my system)

Still, I'm glad to see how well you guys are balancing user feedback with new ideas. This is looking a lot more awesome than the first release. Hope the beams will have different properties this time instead of just different damage and ROF.

Looks like some really good work to me, yep. My only complaint is the original halo hud elements. Kill them plz.

It's Teh Lag's testing tagset, not necessarily the mod's. He just happens to have the old stuffs. But thanks all for the kind words.

I should have an update regarding some other stuff tomorrow.

"Holy lens flare manipulation Batman!"

I'm loving this shit. I've always been a giant nerdy fan of Metroid and seeing it in proper multiplayer (Echoes FTL) makes me have a giant nerdy nerdgasm. Still, couldn't the Solar Beam just be converted into MP2's Light Beam? Then it'd fit a little more in context with the canon, if you care about that kind of thing.

The first ones were great, but no one plays them.
I finally got Prime 3, so after that, I'm looking forward to some online.

Hhhmmm maybe you guys should add an epic gameplay killer and incorporate the giant hyper-beam-mabob from brawl into the mod somehow. Like an easter egg or something. Or the player gets the ability to fire it once during a round if they achieve something insane like getting 25 kills in one life. Then half of the map would be lit up in blinding death. It's a horrible idea, I know, but it would be cool.

Off topic: Metroid prime was the first FPS game I played, and it was epic enough to make me play more FPS games and then to go out and buy halo PC second.

You are right, it is a horrible idea.

Metroid isn't an FPS, It's a First Person Adventure/Exploration game. It doesn't really have any of the main elements of a FPS, as your ammo (except for MP2) is endless and you have lock-on.

hf nerdy metroid loving brother! o/

I bet you haven't collected 100% items on Super Metroid though >:D

First Person Shooter. Metroid Prime was first person and you shot at stuff. I rest my case.

I have gotten 100% on Super Metroid while playing the ROM on a school computer. It's a great way to kill time while your teacher lectures.

Soo..pretty....

Are you going to make a super sexy map to go along with these? (sunny style lighting hax are required)

Metroid Prime is a video game (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_game) developed by Retro Studios (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Retro_Studios) and published by Nintendo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo) for the Nintendo GameCube (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_GameCube), released in North America on November 15 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/November_15), 2002 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2002). It is the first 3D (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3D_computer_graphics) game in the Metroid series (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metroid_%28series%29), and is classified by Nintendo as a first-person adventure (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graphic_adventure_game)[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metroid_prime#cite_note-0) rather than a first-person shooter (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First-person_shooter), due to the large exploration component of the game.

I rest my case.

Anyways, to respond to N00b1n8R, I think we may have some use for a Sunny-style map, but the Metroid ones we have planned come first. I'm trying to visualize it now, but I want to make a map of Maridia from Super Metroid.
