¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Unless you've been living under a freakin' rock, the
title should be pretty self explanatory. This will enable
your secondary weapon to show up either on your spartan's
back or thigh (depending on its size) when not in use.

- If you plan on adding any new weapons... well... good
luck on that. I already maxed out the shader blocks in
the model tag. :/

__________
| | - BUGS - | |
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
- When a player dies, the backpacked weapon appears to
remain on its back, though a pickup-able duplicate is
also spawned.

- If the game is set so you only spawn with one weapon,
your readied weapon appears to be backpacked, even
though you are holding it. Picking up another weapon
fixes this bug.

Not at all, me and Leet and everyone else with him on CMT are great friends. He left for a number of reasons, mainly personal life, and he hates deadlines, and likes working at his own pace.

Damn, that is absolutely awesome. It really brings to light, though, how the weapon model gets smaller when you pick it up. And if you switch back and forth between your guns fast enough, the one on your back stays the same as long as you keep switching. Looks funny. In any case, I was thinking that there is NO room for standard Blood Gulch on HaloCE servers any more. But that'll never happen.

If you ever make a new BWM with fixed bugs....is there anyway to make them an easy placement installation??

My sapien won't open any map, it startst up, my cursor dissapears for about a minute and then sapien immideitely closes down.... :(

the bipeds have got bad UV's. if u can get those tags on The LostSparton tags that would look awsome and get some H2 weapons in the tag pack.

Hmm. I found a bug...

If you spawn a gratity rifle and put it in your "backpack", you see a duplicate of your held gun on your back. <_<

That's because the gravity rifle isn't included, so when you switch to another weapon from it, it never changes the permutation of the backpack object - and even if it did, there isn't one for the gravity rifle, so you still continue to see the same model.

I am highly impressed. Looks like the early previews of Halo 3 are influencing the PC modders. I always thought this was impossible (since the Halo 2 HUD can't show the secondary weapon icon), but now I'm wrong.

Pooky
February 26th, 2007, 08:09 PM
I bet if all the script writers in CE put their minds to it we could have secondary weapon icons, but it wouldn't really accomplish much

February 26th, 2007, 08:12 PM

i agree, maybe you can show all your nades on your belt or something
but that would be too much to ask for after this release thing

na, not yet though, leet just needs to see if its in halo 3 or order to do it.

and for those people that want an animation for butting gun away, i think its impossible, because u cant edit third person animations...

you can change third person animations (I think anyway), and he doesn't have to follow halo 3, he can have belt grenades (if it's possible) if he wishes. :)

CtrlAltDestroy
February 27th, 2007, 04:12 PM

You can't have a script read unit_get_total_grenade_count?

Oh, it only tells you how many total grenades you have, disregarding which type...

Varmint260
February 27th, 2007, 10:04 PM
Oh well, we'll have to live without a grenade belt. They must just spawn in the Chief's hand at his will ;)

Wonder how many people will use this script in their maps... it'd be another reason for the tens of thousands of HaloPC multi players to make the big switch to HaloCE...

*smacks self* sorry, was I dreaming again?

What do you mean? You use the biped he provided and the globals he provided. Then you copy n paste the script to your 'sidewinder' folder in data. In sapien, you compile the script and then compile the map after clicking save. The script works 'universally' with all maps (works with my custom maps at least) so if that is not what you mean, then please give us more information and rephrase your post.

Ok, i know this is gonna aggrivate alot of people, but here it goes: Can someone type up a step-by-step tutorial to get these to work in halo (not CE)? The only halo modding program im familiar with is HMT. Im downloading the HEK (http://halo2.filefront.com/file/Halo_Editing_Kit;25780), and im pretty sure that has sapien in it, right? Thanks, my Xfire is specops1990 if you'd rather help me there.

demonmaster3k
March 6th, 2007, 07:37 PM
well, you could make it work with any biped, you just would have to edit it using the ghost's tool (that would probably mean re-doing animations too)

all i can say is open gureilla and use his tags to reference yours

anyways great job

Roostervier
March 10th, 2007, 02:42 PM
You can if you study how he did it. All you have to do is make the cyborg region, make that a JMS. Then, make a backpack region (use the biped for reference, then, get rid of it or it won't work) with each weapon as the region. I am not sure how to do it exactly, so if you want to know how, search google for it. I saw it somewhere on GBX.

[edit] I just now saw it, but you could use the source files for reference.

Mr Buckshot
March 12th, 2007, 07:41 PM
The one disadvantage of backpack weapons is that the enemy can now see the loot that you're secretly stashing away, and this will change battlefield tactics a bit.

e.g. in Halo 2 xbox, if you had the energy sword, equipping it in full view would prompt other players to move far away. However, a skilled player would holster the sword until the opportune moment (i.e. within lunging distance) to trick the enemy. Looks like we can't do this anymore.

Of course, this will go into Halo 3, and it looks cool/realistic, so I like it.

[MT]Slayer
March 12th, 2007, 11:07 PM
yah, but isn't the energy sword like deactivated when you aren't using it? cuz when you switch to it in halo 2 and h2ce, u have to activate it! But ppl won't really see the energy blade handle, unless they gots a super BR or Carbine, or a Beam RIfle or Sniper.

I think CMT should put that in their next mod. I like the backpack weapons mods. It looks cool. i think if u have dual wields, they are going to be crossed and hung on yor back.

Varmint260
March 12th, 2007, 11:16 PM
Slayer;35930']yah, but isn't the energy sword like deactivated when you aren't using it? cuz when you switch to it in halo 2 and h2ce, u have to activate it!

That IS one thing in Halo2 that bugged me was that you could see the sword before it was picked up even though it shouldn't be active. It DOES make sense though in that it'd be difficult to find one and pick it up if it wasn't lying glowing on the ground. Still...

Anyways, the backpack mod WOULD change battlefield tactics a bit, but it is still incredibly cool. I like little additions to a game that add that tiny little piece of realism (I mean really, where does the Chief store that twin barrel rocket launcher? Actually, don't answer that).

Hope a modified version of this script works in H2Vista. Would be awesome!

Hotrod
March 12th, 2007, 11:20 PM
As far as i know, there is already a script for this in Halo 2 made by the project leaders of Project Carbon. It should also work in Halo 2 Vista.

You should get your facts straight before you post. Halo enjoys being a fag and won't hide the reticle for any weapon other than the first readied one when zoomed, regardless the tag setup. :/

CtrlAltDestroy
March 27th, 2007, 10:35 PM
Do you even mod halo?

CtrlAltDestroy
March 28th, 2007, 07:47 PM
Because then you would have no reticle unzoomed.
