srsly wtf
Spammers are filling up a forum everyone doesn't use, the dark, lifeless void known as the H:CE League Forum. It is a minor annoyance that I can't look at the New Posts without questions of consolidating a student loan.

EDIT

thnx

I got rid of all I could find. If you guys see any more, post a link to their user profile and we'll get them banned and the spam moved to the trash.

Either a human is registering accounts for bots to post on or our registration system is broken/cracked. It should be PHP pulling up specific images for the verification, so I'm going to lean towards a person registering the accounts.

Here's another. Same name as someone on HaloMaps, but I think this is an impostor. The actual person types pretty nicely and definitely doesn't think that CMT rips. :p

Yeah, I'm trying to catch them as they register and come online. Hopefully some error on the bot's end will stop the process and the guy will stop registering accounts for them.

how could a person register accounts for bots?

how could a person register accounts for bots?

they're chinese. they register past the image verification and copy/paste the username/password into a file for the bot to use.

At least that's what the friendly farmers in Eve say. Supposedly, the bots are supposed to make multiple threads and posts over time.

Does anyone use ICQ? If not, just IP ban people with ICQ numbers. For some reason, all the spambots have one.

And suggestions

all just got raped.

Also image verification has been able to be compromised by bots on their own, no need for human help.

I can't see why they'd ever stop unless we make it harder to register. :/

Perhaps we should make people copy and paste a specific line from the mane rules or something?

That's just about the same, if not easier than the image verification method.

Hi,I'm new here, how's it going?"Buddhism has the characteristics of what would be expected in a cosmic religion for the future: it transcends a personal God, avoids dogmas and theology; it covers both the natural & spiritual, and it is based on a religious sense aspiring from the experience of all things as a meaningful unity" - Albert Einstein---Patriciahttp://patricia.hub.io

Why are the spambots attacking a small out of the way site like this anyway? May as well just disable new registration for the time being :\

Yeah, well, registration has been blocked for now. ISomeone, >__>, accidentally uninstalleddeleted a fewall of our anti-bot things. Without them, they started popping up like wildfire.

The ones you see now are ones that have just been laying dormant. Continue to link to their user profile and we'll ban them as they pop up.

why not put a limited on when you can create threads, as in, a minimum of say 20 posts before they submit a thread.
sure it might tick off some brand new, newbies for the time being, but i reckon it'd be effective.

also

then the bots would just post in existing threads and that would make it even harder to find.

They'd have to be custom designed for this system though, and would the spammers really bother doing that?

well mb i could help with shoot on sight?

i happen to be one of the most online and active members, considering i read 4-5 threads before i post?
