I'm confused why are there pictures of halo 3 ships in a thread for halo CE downloads.

Did you make these ships in halo CE or did you get the models or what?

They're just images. The idea is to place them on a plane in the background to give the illusion that there's something there.

its like the planet threshold bitmap you see in bloodgulch, its a flat plane with a alpha'ed texture applied

So you really didn't do anything... just uploaded screen shots from halo 3.
I guess that might be useful. I like the picture of the shadow of intent. Might make it my desktop background.

Oh I missed that he Alpha'd them. That actually might be useful. Hell I might use them if I get a chance. That is if the alpha is good.

Well, the fact that I dont know how big people want them. Smaller size plane makes it seem farther away, larger plane makes it seem closer

This is a miserable idea. Do you know how skies work? They aren't just a square with images on them, all the ships, mountains, and shit are all 3d, so i don't see how flat screenshots are going to help make decent custom skies.

In the majority of the original Halo skyboxes, the model consisted of a large dome, with cloud, water, and fog objects, and arrayed

square[s] with images on them.If you don't believe me, just take Bluestreak and go take a look. I did, for my own amusement.

Look at the planets, are they 3d? no. there flat planes. Thats the basic idea I had when I alpha'ed these, you cant even reach the sky if you use the devcam or sapien cam anyways.

Yes the planets are, but I will tell you from experience, any close up mountain or 3D structure will look retarded as just a single plane.

Well the mountains in Mystic are textures on planes, and they still look great. Used right these will work fine. Just keep in mind its for Halo CE, so it'll look fine by Halo CE standards, but not Halo 3.

Lulz, Malloy hasnt had time to texture it yet. Also I am working on Marathon and Hacylon Class Cruisers. I am still trying to rip the Marathon Cruiser from Halo 2, and get a perfect model from Halo CE.
