So, I've decided i need a new desktop background. As a result of this, I've come to the conclusion that I want to make my desktop background and not get it off the internet. So, I and going to throw up a poll for likely scenes I will model. I'm thinking about getting deehunter to render since he's pretty good at it. Now on to the pretty stuff. (randomly found on google)

You could try making a desktop background out of sprite art. I did that with Mario sprites once and posted it here, people liked it. Dunno if anyone remembers that.

Just thought I'd mention that as it would be something you made and also a lot easier and less time consuming than modeling.

No' 3, and tbh I dont think you could pull off Number 4 perfectly in under 2 months... so it'd be pretty pointless for a fresh desktop background

I could do it. Probably only take about a week for modeling and another week for texturing.

I like no.2 myself, but then I've always been a big fan of urban scenes (plus, for me, they're easier to model) :D

I personally like number 2. I'm a fan of bright cities in the night scenes. They are amazing

Why don't you ask the guy who did #2 to make a custom concept for you? He's active on www.conceptart.org.

1,2, or 5. That's the only ones I think would be awesome as backgrounds.

4. Decrepit industrial environment. I love it.

Reminds me of some of the older HL2 concepts...

I like number 1 personally, I love that kind of atmosphere, but I don't think it would make that good a background. Number 2 would work the best for a background if you ask me. Might actually do number 1 myself.

I like number 2. I might try it out myself.

So yeah Numero Dos ftw

I am in love with the third one. Where can I get a pic of that background size?

Otherwise, prove me wrong.

If # 3 wins, you'll have a background. :p

I like 4. The abandoned factory(?) out in the distance is really cool.

4 is mostly effects so not really any modeling.

agreed but I voted 2...

I do like 4 though because of the uniqueness of the sort of "futuristic feel" in that factory in the background is being used with current design ideas and houses, sort of a merging of the scifi/modern day look. Although I think it could be done better, its a neat concept.

Heh, Its really neck and neck here so I'm not sure which one to do. I guess I'll do number 3 since it looks the easiest :P

#2 is in the lead. Plus it would give you excellent practice to take on a project of that scale. Do it :P
