Hey guys I've been looking into buying a nice tutorial somewhere on next gen game design; mainly focusing on 3d modeling and texturing. I've been thinking about getting some of Eat3d's tutorials on this but I'm not sure yet. Could anyone else link me to some other good ones?

Just to keep you up to speed with the lingo, game design is the overall view of the game which is a vast vast topic.

I'd also like to know how to make next gen textures, apparently they model the actual texture, so for metal panels, they model out blocks to give it a texture. Then bake it.

Also does any one know if baking normals requires lights? Because mine always come out one shade of blue =\

Oh my bad. And yeah I've done baking before and if you want it to turn out then lighting is necessary I believe.

No they don't require lights.

The eat 3d textures are ok for the next gen workflow however, if your really interested in texturing, you have to learn to paint in photoship

Yeah I've been working on some texturing like that lately. I noticed some progression in my work so I wanted to learn some more next gen tutorials to sharpen my growing skill.

Edit: Thanks for the links tho, I hadn't seen the last one before.

I just bought CrazyBump last year <shrugs> Make your photo tileable in Photoshop or GIMP and the normals and stuff are done for you o.O
