Why do you suppose this is on Microsoft's page and not Bungie's?

I dunno, maybe if you posted said screen shot someone would be able to tell you.

FFS, Hired Gun is making the fucking game. Not Bungie. Bungie is making Halo3. Just because they may work back and forth with HG to make sure things go right or support, doesn't mean they're going to spend a bunch of time updating the site with H2V shit as Halo3 should be the thing taking up most of their time.

@ the screen. The fact that it has debugging information made ready, means alot to me >=D

Umm, the only difference I see is an edged faces mode. The changed gizmo can be done in Sapien.

h2-ified spark edit if you ask me..

Kornman00
March 29th, 2007, 10:45 AM
1. Who asked you
2. Where the hell did you get that kind of relation? All it is, is a game render screen, not a full view screen. Haven't you seen the videos?

Right. And sapien had debug info galore.

I hope it's as easy, if not easier to use than Spark Edit. I also hope that you don't need another program, such as 3dmax or Gmax to make maps, and that it all comes with the game.

TheGhost
March 29th, 2007, 04:37 PM
lol, just because it's rendered with edged faces you're comparing it to SparkEdit? that's laughable.

Its been stated already that you need a 3rd party editor, it comes with plugins for 3dsmax and maya already though.

What?
Oh you know, spark edit working with halo 2, thats how I see it.

Oh and ghost, not just the edge faces, the axis handles, the ability to select certain types of objects (vehicles\scenery\equipment points) which spark edit had.

When you zoom out, you dont see the object you see a box coloured as the representing tag type/object type.

Sure its coincidence however thats why I see it as spark edit :P

Kornman00
March 29th, 2007, 04:58 PM
Umm, you can select all instances of a specific type in sapien too...

edit: and you still see the object, not just box when your far from it...

<3 Maya support. No need for me to get max AS WELL after all :D

afaik, they only used maya for character development. So take the maya support with a gain of salt.

You can select which object types you wish to see and which you want to be shown as with a wireframed box.

Yeah so? I didnt say it wasnt like sapien, looks more spark edity to me.

Kornman00
March 30th, 2007, 05:37 AM
none of those objects are being showed as a wireframe box...

March 30th, 2007, 07:03 AM
The object types in wireframe box are green purple and brown.

They're just the 3d replacements for the arrows used in sapien for adjusting the rotation of an object, no objects are in a wireframe...

They are just part of the handles used to rotate objects....

It appears that I am incorrect then :)

What does happen when you zoom out loads though, will it always render the model or will a wireframe show up?

Does that screenshot look like one of the new maps we're going to be getting to anybody else?

Kornman00
March 30th, 2007, 08:17 PM
I'm pretty sure its an artifact from the wireframe outline rasterizing, and I'm sure there is a limit as its not that far from the other objects.

Just like gearbox, I'm betting atleast 2 maps will be included with H2V made by Nitr...I mean Hired Gun ;x

Since when can SparkEdit render cubemaps or normal maps?

And kornman, where do you see the debug info?

DaneO'Roo
March 30th, 2007, 11:38 PM
afaik, they only used maya for character development. So take the maya support with a gain of salt.

I remember a developer video with a test soccerfield map, and the chick saying that "we are publishing an intermediate file format so people can write exporters for any software package and not be limited to a certain package"

and LOL@ spark edit. You can't even see the bloody UI for SAPIEN in that pic.

"Spark edit looks like this" is what you should be saying.

Kornman00
March 31st, 2007, 12:05 AM
Yeah, they stated that Dano, but thats just off loading the work on the community. Doesn't guarantee that someone will make a maya made level to an ASS file exporter.

@ p0lar_ice_caps: What? your telling me you play halo2 in textured wireframe mode? Must be a headache.

p0lar_bear

That's what you meant? Ok.

Yeah, it sucks that in H1, the closest you can get is what happens with debug_collision. Still pretty cool though.

I know, but I'm sure many smart people out there who use maya would be able to write a good exporter for it. I mean, I'm sure Jahrain would probably make one.

You bet. :)

I knew you had to have a 3rd party editor, its not as if they are gonna give you a whole new program or something. But this is very good, i can continue on my career, as a video game designer!

What map is that shown in the editor?

Also, I wouldn't be surprised if Ghost made a Maya export, he was looking at a Maya-JMS a while ago.
