For the past month or so I have not been able to sleep well at all. I can stay up till 6 in the morning and fall asleep for a couple hours and be right back to being awake by 8 or 9 in the morning. By the time I get to work I feel a little tired; yawning and the like... but when I'm clocking out to head home, I'm fully awake again. There's nothing that really wears me out between when I come home (usually around 10) and midnight.. so then I'm stuck staying up all night because I can't sleep.

This is frustrating. I wanna be able to sleep but like.. I just can't. Anyone have any good ways of dealing with this?

I have Legit insomnia but I love it. Besides being light headed and aching, it's great. I pulled an all nighter and now it's 2:30Am and in still not tired.

Now someone made a diahrrea thread because right now I have that too. Hence why i'm on my iPhone.

It depends really. How much caffeine do you consume? What kind of distractions do you have in your house (like TV, lights, noises)? Maybe you have a condition you aren't aware of?

There are a lot of things to look for. I mean if you drink a lot of Mountain Dew obviously you're going to have trouble sleeping. Back last year I'd be up until 4 on school days and have to wake up again at 6:30, and quite honestly I didn't have much trouble doing it.

I do that now and I am fine. Word to the wise though, after 2 nights you aren't very reliable. I had this plan, see, to go to bed at least before 4 am. So I set an alarm for 4 to make sure i was asleep by then :downs:

I had just fallen asleep when it went off and then it took till 6.

but what you need is like a 4-6 hour long pornfest with about a half a dozen faps on the side.

If that doesnt put you to sleep, nothing will.
trust me on this.

and no i'm not joking. It's a tranquilizer.

Edit: be careful though, abuse of this system will turn your brain to a mush like substance.

Well, when it comes to beverages I drink no caffeine at all. I can't stand carbonation (for whatever reason it makes my eyes water) so I just stick to bottled water. I don't eat a whole lot of candy or any kind of foods with caffeine so I'm going to rule that out.

Exersize should help. Before I started a daily routine, I also had a hard time falling asleep. bed at 4, up at 6 lol.

Or... if I can't fall asleep and I have class at 5AM and it's getting near midnight... I'll just take a NyQuil or benadryl.... don't do this often at all though 'cause it's probably not the best route for ya.

Induce an 8 hour coma at midnight.

Exercise before sleeping? I've tried that, but it only makes me exhausted, not tired/sleepy. You can stretch before you sleep? Muscles are relaxed, no tension, unless you pulled one.

Wouldnt exercise before sleeping just make you more awake? I do exercise right after waking up to get my blood pumping.

I can't go to sleep either, however I end up sleeping till about 3PM when I do.

Besides giving you diabetes, drinking sugary drinks will give you an energy high followed by a plane-colliding-with-atlantic-ocean-everybody-dies scale crash afterwards.

I'd recommend Sobe since it has the side effect of not tasting like shit, for the most part.

Sometimes I get kind of like that myself - I find that just getting in bed, closing eyes, etc. as if I was tired, whether I'm tired or not, actually helps.

Be mindful of your eating/drinking before bed. Don't have anything sugary or caffeinated after 7pm, that way it'll be out of your system by bedtime.

Consider trying a shower, or a bath before you try to sleep. Warm water relaxes the muscles and helps to make you sleepy. Finding relaxing music helps me to fall asleep, or white noise like having a fan running.

If all of the above fails, I suggest you go to your local pharmacy and pick up a bottle of Melatonin. It's a hormone that your brain produces that basically controls your biological clock, maybe you just need a boost of it. My mom takes it, and it works great for her.

I actually had a similar problem during the school year, what i would do was turn every electronic in the room off. If its raining, thats even better, then i would just keep my eyes closed an eventually fall asleep.

Well, i turn off everything in my room when I sleep anyways. TV is off, computer is put into hibernation and the power turned off on my main switch, and my 360 is off. Only thing left on is my cellphone and my alarm clock both of which I position so I cant see the light emitting from the screens. Only thing I keep on other than that is my fan if we don't have the AC on.

I have a physical next week and I plan on asking my doctor about taking that to see if it helps.

It's an OTC supplement, you should not need to ask your doctor about taking it--it just boosts production of the hormone in charge of sleepy time. XD

I don't trust prescription sleep aids. You just end up dependent on that shiz.

I drink energy drinks everyday, and I don't get a crash. :realsmug:

Usually working out intensively can leave you really tired because all your energy is gone. Why do you think your body needs protein and carbs after a workout? Also doing a little warm up in the morning helps you wake yourself up. You usually can workout better after your first couple of meals of the day, because your body then has energy for the workout. Unlike in the morning when your body is screaming for nutrients. But I always do a warm up in the morning on my punching bag to wake me up.

Anyways ontopic, I don't know much about what you can do for your sleeping problem. Maybe lay on your bed with the lights off for awhile? But maybe sleeping pills help too.

Strangely enough, if I can't fall asleep I'll toss in Fight Club haha.

I've formed a habit with it so that if I watch it, I get tired. I always fast forward to the part where they break into the lyposuction clinic to get fat so they can make soap.

I have no idea why that works for me, it just does haha.

Maybe you can try to stop eating Food/drinks that give you lots of energy. Also stop eating before you go to bed, that will keep you up for hours.

Xanax or Temazepam. I take both depended on the day, Xanax will knock me out for about 15 hours of amazing sleep. Temazepam gives me a solid 8 to 10.

Exercising too close to your bedtime is a bad idea, it gets you energized and your adrenaline flowing, making it harder for you to fall asleep. Better to exercise earlier in the day.
