(Even with Vsync off, I think Halo locks it at 180 maximum)

Take a screen shot of your FPS on Halo (or anything similar) and post them here :p. With 180FPS on Halo 1, hopefully I can get at least 60 on Halo 2 Vista.

No AA, 16xAF, full HDR, all settings maxed. Specs in sig. That's in GMOD 10.

With my current config I got about 10k in 3dmark06. I haven't done 05/4 yet, I will at a later time.

Unfortunately since I'm playing in a window, I can't turn Vsync off, also Xfire resizes my screenshots. But I'm playing at 1024 x 768 in a window (with my desktop resolution of 1440 x 900) with all settings maxed.

Read that article. It mentions somewhere that for something to be as smooth as real life, it might have to be over 4000FPS.

60. LCDs display images differently then a CRT would, so refersh rates don't really matter in that sense.

I cap my framerate at 60 fps, to match my vertical sync, so it doesn't matter whether I can get 200 fps or not, as long as it never dips below 60.

Same here usually. If you can't handle 60 FPS for a given game (with your card that probably doesn't happen often, on my 7600 GT im barely playing Oblivion at 1024 x 768 with all the sliders up, HDR, no AA and no AF) the game will usually try and match up to the closest the monitor can do (on mine it goes down to 45, then 30, 20, 15, 10, etc.). FUCKING ATTY WITH ALL HIS CARDS >=U.

So do I. It only occasionally dips to around 40, and thats in heavy action scenes :/

In Halo, anything higher than 30 FPS is stupid. It's an Xbox game, which means it was made to run at 30 FPS.

It runs at 60 fps, but only puts out half of the image per frame. Interlaced, it works out to 30 fps, which is the refresh rate of television sets. Anything higher isn't stupid, as it looks better. The human eye cant tell much of a difference past 60 and that's seemingly becoming the standard refresh rate of all monitors now. Even if your video card can spit out 500 frames per second, you'll only see 60 of them (or a combination of multiple frames if you have vsync off) since that's literally where your monitor maxes out.

>_>
I needs to take some screens from my new notebook.

Taking a random screen shot in a random game in a random part of the game doesn't dictate benchmark testing. Hell, anything above 60 FPS you can't even notice in Halo. If you want to talk about benchmarking, then take an actual benchmark test.
