Anyone know how to create water? For example, a lake?

I searched around on l4dmaps but didn't really find anything to helpful... Any help would be appreciated!

Same way you do it in any Source game?
Check Gmod or CSS or TF2 tutorials.

1. Create a box brush in the area you want water to be in.
2. Give the entire thing the NoDraw texture
3. Select the top of the box in the texture tool, and browse for a water texture, (Search Water, or Liquid in the filter)
4. The ones that show up as bumps are the ones your looking for, the rest are last gen.
5. Compile, make sure there arent any leaks, and you checked of VIS before you compile
6. All done, glad i could help :downs:

OK, problem. Added water in Hammer, everything looks good. Compile the level, test it in game. No water...

Any ideas?

Try a different texture.

Did that... Tried multipe dev water textures, as well as one named "ruralwater". Might be because of some leaks though.. have to go through my map in Hammer with a fine tooth comb.

Run vvis when you compile (fast would be suitable in this case).

I was. Water wasn't appearing because I had a leak in my geometry, which I fixed. Now I just need to practice making some decent fog...
