View Full Version : Hard Drive Failure?

Hope you guys can help me out with this one. Over the last three days, my primary hard drive has been slowing down considerably, accompanied with a loud *Click-whirrrrrrrrr* fairly often. Yesterday, it got much worse. I wrote a file to the drive, and when doing so, the hard drive shook/vibrated so hard it could be felt in the floor. Happened again a few hours later, also writing a file to disk.

I've run disk checks, spyware checks and whatnot and they haven't turned up any problems, but it's the physical problems that are bothering me.

Any thoughts or should I just go out to Best Buy and replace the bastard?

It's definitely going to fail soon.
Backup the data and get a new one.

Yeah... you should have backed up your data ASAP... when a harddrive clicks, whirs, scrapes, etc... it's probably already too late for it. Also when it slows down or make a shit load of errors that's a bad sign too (though you won't notice the "shitton of errors" unless you use something like SpinRite)
