View Full Version : Official 3DMark Vantage Benchmark Scores

Cortexian
September 16th, 2009, 02:19 PM
Alright so since 3DMark06 is now horribly out of date and can't cope with out copious amounts of awesome hardware, we're moving onto this awesome 3DMark Vantage thread!

Guidelines:

All benchmarks are run at the default settings (load up Vantage and hit "Run Benchmark" with the "Performance" preset checked).
Post A screenshot, thumbnail, or some kind of proof (like an ORB link obtained by clicking the "Submit Score" button). Do not post large pictures, use shot tags.
Include your processor and graphics/video card model.
Always update your computer specs (http://www.modacity.net/forums/profile.php?do=extra).
Limit the spam, if its off topic it will be deleted.

Let us begin.

When posting a new score below, at the top of your post put the text "My new 3DMark Vantage Score" in size 5 Red font. Example:

My new 3DMark Vantage Score:

Oh, that would explain alot.

Why?

The entire point of a benchmark program like this is to push your hardware to the max and give you a score that represents what you can do. NVIDIA cards can do things in such a way that they destroy ATI cards in benchmarks, but why should NVIDIA cards be punished for what ATI cards are lacking?

tl:dr: buy NVIDIA.

@ InnerGoatse, you requested this thread, post in it.

That's not an option you can set... That's not how benchmarks work.

Try converting it to a .scenario and turn the magnitude down on the wind in sapien and convert back. Shouldn't be too hard.

Cortexian

I'm not sure how you'd set the nvidia card as a dedicated PhysX card while using an ATI card as your primary. I know with nvidia-nvidia card setups you just plug the second one in, go to the nvidia control panel and enabled PhysX.

190.62 are the latest drivers available for the 6-200 series cards... You're going to have to find some info on running an nvidia card as a dedicated PhysX card while using an ATI primary. I'm not actually sure if it's even possible, you might need two (or more :realsmug:) nvidia cards.

It's cool. Anything to get the highest score!

Also, looking at my Vantage cpu score, it looks REALLY low. I mean really low. Limited has like over 30000 cpu score and mine barely passes 9000? Why is that? And my cpu is at 3.6ghz and a phenom II. Strange. I guess Vantage really favors intel cpus then!

E: It favors NVIDIA GPUs because the physx in the drivers inflates the cpu score in vantage. Without the added physx component nvidia cards would have a much lower score.

Cortexian
March 1st, 2010, 11:28 PM
Yup, ATI cards will pump out a higher GPU score than Nvidia cards but PhysX boosts the hell out of your CPU score since the CPU doesn't need to do the extra physics processing.

Goddammit, why does this require Vista? Can't it test your setup without needing to test the DX10 performance?
It requires Vista because Vista is the latest OS to support DX10, it works on Windows 7 as well but since XP has no DX10 support it's not going to happen. Vantage was designed to test the new DX10 systems when it was released, 3DMark06 is the previous version for older DX9 based machines!

I was surprised at the low FPS I got throughout the graphics test, jumped around 20-30. The PhysX 'Crash and Burn' test was a disaster even though I'm sporting an Nvidia card as well as the latest drivers for that Card, am I missing some sort of PhysX related software I need? I'm disappointed in myself with such a low score on the very low 3DMark Vantage Trial settings.
