Alright so recently Burnout Paradise has been crashing to the desktop without displaying any kind of error message. I can load the game, select a vehicle, and get in game just fine but the game will crash after a random amount of time. My system specs shouldn't be a problem at all, but you can check them out. Here's what Windows says about the crash...

I think it mainly started doing this after I added the second video card to my system. I've tried updating/rolling back drivers and nothing is helping. I've tried SLI enabled and disabled, both crash... Also tried reinstalling.

The game just seems to "lock up" for a second, then it just closes as if something killed the process, I'm not shown an error message or anything.

It causes a stack overflow, and from what I can see, anyone who has 2xgtx 285's is having problems playing that game.

Edit: one review on newegg says that underclocking them before you play the game keeps it from crashing. eVGA's response was to "Install the 190.38 drivers".

Hope that helps.

I was using the 190.38 drivers, didn't work, upgraded to 190.62, still not working.

I'll try under clocking a bit... Any idea how much I should be going for here?

the one's that i saw on newegg were a core clock of 702, and those were the ftw editions.

so...

i have no idea lol.

I dropped from 648 (default) to 590 and was still getting the problem, it does seem to extend the amount of time it takes for the game to crash though... Maybe it's crashing still because I'm using SoftTH to split the game across two screens as well... I dunno, Maybe I'll try the 191 beta drivers.

*sigh*

EDIT: 191.03 drivers didn't help, underclocking didn't fix it, arg...

Where are you getting your info on this problem Coja?

sorry dude. but at least you're getting a little more time out of the game. have you tried not using SoftTH?

I'm trying the game vanilla right now, without SoftTH to see if it's the problem. However It was acting up earlier when I tried not using SoftTH as well, so I'll combine no SoftTH with underclocking and see if that helps.

Edit: SoftTh isn't the issue, still getting the same problem.
