Well, funny thing happened. I decided to try and see what I can do with my 1g iPod (theme wise), and from browsing google I came up with this (http://lifehacker.com/5057014/how-to-customize-your-ipod-with-ipodwizard) site, which told me I needed iPod Wizard (http://www.ipodwizard.net/wiki/index.php/Main_Page). So I got that, and started messing with it by using the tutorial (and downloading a bunch of themes (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/Hazard1337/bunchathemes.png)), and I tried installing a few. Some of them worked half way, so I tried figuring out why they weren't showing up like the picture in the thread showed. Which led me to something called "Horizontal V Hack (http://www.ipodwizard.net/showthread.php?t=35602)". I went through the instructions on that, but instead of just doing 'write to iPod', I did 'write' then 'write to iPod'. The theme shows up, but everything is upside down and topsy turvy and i'm not sure on how to fix it.

Also, I just stumbled upon this (http://www.ipodwizard.net/forumdisplay.php?f=149), so when i'm not tired as hell I will check these out and see if there is anything that can help me.

Anyone have any experience doing this sort of thing?

Yeah, I modded my 1G Nano a couple years back. I put Linux on it too (great for Doom in band).

Just restore it from a backup/to factory settings, then try it again. Believe me when I say that backups will save your ass billions of times, especially with iPod Wizard.

Also, check to make sure the firmware versions match. I haven't done this in a while, so for all I know, someone may have modded firmware that people are using nowadays (more compatibility or summat).
