So I was testing a new version of the rev sky and I heard this high pitched whining from my computer.

Conscars: what the fuck
Conscars: my computer is making high pitched buzzing sounds
Conscars: and its only when I look at the waterfall
Conscars: >_>
Selentic~: >>
Conscars: im flyin around in dev cam and it sounds like im a spaceship
Conscars: cus the pitch changes as I fly around
Selentic~: ;p;
Selentic~: lol
Selentic~: is it ingame?
Conscars: wf
Conscars: no
Conscars: i opened up my case
Conscars: the pitch is in direct proportion with my FPS
Conscars: higher the fps higher the pitch
Selentic~: lol
Conscars: vsynced that faggot
Conscars: now it shuts up
Conscars: ill teach u to render 1000 fps!

It was the range of ~400-1000 fps that made the whining.
Is it the fan speed adjusting to fps or something? I've never heard this before. :tinfoil:

I've heard of whining when they don't get enough power, but that is weird

Check the temperature of your computer using SpeedFan (http://www.filehippo.com/download_speedfan/) and note if there is any major differences before and after. I know my computer gets really whiny on those hot summer days when it reached 75 degrees Celsius. So bad that I actually had to set up a room fan to blow on my computer to cool it to about 55.

When your graphics card is putting out that many frames it will overheat unless you've got some special cooling.

Also vsync in halo will give terrible mouse lag.

The high pitch whine you hear is normal.

Speedfan doesn't get my GPU temperature correctly. It shows it sitting at 85 always while NVidia control panel shows otherwise.

I noticed. I normally don't have to use it.

If you say so.
