Aquarii.
Aquarii is a sci fi aquarium set in tunnels full of teleporters. The map plays like Rat race, and has a feeling of Chiron with its many teleporters. The map has many features, many water tanks, completley new textures, fish, and lots of other things. The map consists of 4 "areas", 2 of them being middle places and 2 of them bases with hallways. The architecture is a theme of my own, combining a new theme with my previous map, Garden. DEE will be doing the lighting in this map as well. The map also plays music like Immolate and Garden did, though I'm gonna need your help on choosing what song to play.

Make a menu option to turn songs on/off, whether you have songs playing from map load-up or not is up to you.

That was always one of those songs that I never really liked from the beginning, but never listened to all of it. I just listened to most of it, its pretty good. Dunno if I want to use it or not, it never really gets "fast" like the others, but its definitely good.

---UPDATE---

Got the map ingame, did a beta test. Epic fun already. Map has alot of potential, can't wait to get to work on making it even awesome.
Luckily the map didn't have to many errors and the ones it did have were very easy to fix.

It felt like he either nerfed the weapons or increased player shield. A shotty at point blank should not take more than 2 shots.

Nowhere, becuase I never gave it to you.

Also don't worry about not having enough cover, I plan to lay some shields (similar to gardens) down in a couple places for cover, especially in the big room, and the two rooms at each base ( one of them is the one filled with water + broken tanks).

Feels like the spawns need more cover for games like FFA Slayer, around the flag stands. Too open when everyone is spawning in the same four corners, and speaking of spawns put more of them around the level heh

I would suggest having a menu button to disable music.
This is what I was going to do in Garden, though I never got it to work (if you remember (http://www.modacity.net/forums/showpost.php?p=456586&postcount=148). No one helped me fix this, so..). I was positive I posted that I was going to try to get it to work this time around in the first post, guess not. Either way if you hate the fucking music so much, go turn it off in your settings, its like 3 clicks away. This is my map and I can do whatever I want with it. I don't need a opinion being said so much and especially rudely. I think I got the idea when people say I should add a disable button at least 2 times and something that I already had planned. And do believe me, I know how to properly make sounds, I do it all the time.

If I want to listen to music while I'm playing then I'll run it in the background. Don't force it on us or make sure there's an option to turn it on/off. Chances are most people will hate the song or get sick of it after 5 minutes.

If anyone post's more shit about the music im going to lock the thread until further updates, becuase seriously, I've had enough with the feedback on the music. I kinda get it after the 3 first pages are saying fuck music. And like I said, Con, there's a disable button in the pause menu this time if you didn't see my rant the page before. I already went off on Ganon about this, so I'm just going to state a couple reason why I like putting the music in the map.

It makes it more of a novelty, and more downloads for being different.

It adds more then just striaght up ambience, especially in these tunnels were there isnt a whole lot you can really do with ambience.

I make maps for my own expense, time, and creativity, not for the peoples wishs. Sure I'll take critism, and give crit, but not from striaght up dumbasses like half the people in this thread. I'm pretty fucking tired of the rudeness of this community, including halomaps, just acting like retartds. If you go to any other site, Gameartist, beyound unreal, they know how to act like real people and give real crit.

If you hate it so much and it pisses you off so badly, then just quit the map and be left out or hit the puase menu and hit disable. Simple as that. The musics never forced on you anyway, there's a disable button in your settings anyway that turns off just music type sound tags.

There's still going to be ambience when its disabled, so if you do turn it off the map still makes sounds, im not that much of an idiot.

Sorry, I tend to jump around threads and subforums pretty quickly so I usually don't read the previous few pages of a thread. I just saw some people discussing music in the map and gave my 2 cents. I totally agree with what you're saying about originality and doing it for your own experience.

After discussing the problem with a few friends I play Halo with, we've come to the conclusion that the music will stay, on a couple of conditions though.

1. The musics volume will be turned down enough so that you will be able to hear the players around you, shooting, explosions, footsteps, things like that.

2. In the pause menu, like I stated, will have a disable button for the people that it disturbs.

and lastly, 3. I know the music will get annoying after a while. Im toying around with the idea of possible other songs to play during the map other then just 1 song the entire time. Just a thought.

I got alot more comments about the music being a cool addition to Garden and Immolate and they liked it rather then not liking it. If you were the only people that was going to play then the map I would take it out becuase I know you don't like it. But your not. Also with having it turn on would be odd, becuase then half the people wouldn't even know its there till they leave.

If your going to suggest a track, make it sound near similar to either firestorm or plasma oscillator from ut3. I don't want them being a bunch of random tracks out of no where.

Oh, and progress has been slow.. ive been expanding into ut3 and doing more high poly and texturing work for it, working on scene's etc. My max file also became currput, so I gotta go rip the last bsp I compiled..
when back, I can get back to work on some pretty awesome idea's i had for the map.

anyway..
been having some problems with Lateski's song. it has 3 permutations becuase you can't compile songs over 3 minutes (right?) and it all needs to be in 1 sound file. The problem is that it plays all the permutations in the wrong order. Like it goes in order, starting from 3 to 2 to 1. Anyone know how to make it play the way you want? I tried change the permutation order, but sapien just exceptioned on start up, saying the perumation order was not valid..

Uhh you fix that over 3 minutes long dealio with the .ogg that comes with the sound compiling app on halomaps.

I'm working on this map again - I'm working on another bigger project non-ce related but I felt like revisting this map. The CE section here is pretty much dead, but I figured I'd post.

I'm getting rid of the music, btw. After looking at the whole fiasco from the pages before, it seems like its probably the best option.

I've also revisioned the entire circular middle area, as it pretty much sucked, and I'm also starting to texture it now. Should have some pictures of hopefully this weekend, and perhaps a beta.

I'm also looking for anyone who may be interested in doing Aether lightmaps for the map - its a lot to ask but I'd like to keep this up to par with my previous MP map Garden.

Too bright! It'd be cool if the red/blue strips provided most of the ambient lighting with just a few overhead lighting panels for the other areas.

That's just the opinion of somebody who likes dark maps with soft/ambient lighting though.

I'm gonna have to do some fancy scripting too as well to make them not so retarded on multiplayer servers. Client side gets duplicates that are braindead.

To get rid of the duplicates spawn them in an empty area where the player can't see, then on startup have a command list teleport them to where you actually want them to be seen. The duplicates will be left in whatever empty area you have the spawn points in.

For swimming away:

Just give them firing positions.

A- normal
B- fleeing

When the player enters the trigger change there state to flee, and they will go to wherever firing position's B are. Also test the trigger for no players, so when it's empty the sharks slowly go back or whatever you want them to do.

E: also I would render some kind of cubemap of the level for the glass, it looks pretty bad. If you're doing lightmaps in max then that step is a click of a button.

Another friend also said to change the cubemap for the glass, I'm on top of it :p
