I was thinking... that the original halo editing kit tutorial was rather... bare, and has a few errors and a bunch of holes in it.

I propose that we update the tutorial to contain more + better techniques for making maps in halo.

Some things that I would like to see in such an updated hek tutorial:
Better portaling
UVW-ing
Basic + advanced ai tutorials
A number of scripting tutorials,
Include more info on the creation of custom strings, hud messages, and cutscene titles
Tagging sounds
Custom crosshairs, ui, bipeds, weapons, scenery, and vehicles, skies,

This is basically an effort to bring together more fully the collective knowledge of the Halo mapmaking and modding community so that we don't have to keep downloading videos etc. every time we need a reference.

I will be adding my knowledge and updating the hek as much as I can as well. I do hope that people will be willing to help me in this endeavor.

If you would like to help, please let me know!

I approve of this idea, but we should instead create it on the Modacity Wiki. Porting the documentation to the Wiki would be the first step, and would make it easier for everyone on the site to contribute to it.

We can do it on the wiki, however I also want to do an html version so people can download it and use it as a reference without internet.

Btw con, I could use you for working with the fog planes + making waterfalls. :P

If you guys can get that shit on the wiki, I'll update it with some stuff about portaling and sound creation.

You can easily export things from Wikimedia.

Allrighty then. (It's extremely dirty I know, I will be fixing the formatting in due time)

I'll be sure to add my knowledge on skys when I get around to it (likely after exams).

Some people in this community know how to do things others don't. If they are willing, they should write tutorials on how to do these things.

Things like: First Person Legs; Backpack Weapons; Bubble Shields...

More modelling tutorials should be made as well. Although texturing is a biggy with this community, as not many people can do it good.

The idea is to port over the original HEK tutorial and to expand it to better fit the community's needs

Your stuff is there. Just saying it so people dont type it all up over again only to have it already in the original tutorial.

I like this idea. Should hopefully include detailed tutorials on a wide variety of things the original tutorial left out, even a few nifty tricks we've all come up with on our own time.

I think HEK 2.0 would be an epic idea.

We should make a whole new HEK package with all the tagsets and updated tools :P
