The shield disappears when you look at the jackal's shield from the back? (shield's back, not the jackal's obv.)

Yeah pretty much this. Go into the shader for the shield and find near the top "two sided" and check the box. Not sure, you might have to recompile the gbx model.

The shield texture looks terrible. Don't use more than 1 or 2 colors. Usually a mix of green or purple or blue with a white accent is all you need for a halo plasma shader.

The way you have it done, it looks like a regular jackal shield but with the in game gamma turned all the way up.

(go play a really dark map then turn gamma all the way up to see what I mean)

I spent way more time trying to compile the textures than I did trying to make it work. The person I did it for asked me to change the colors in a shader_transparent_chicago shader or w/e it was. You'll never see this texture in a map so dun worry, even though i'd like to have tips on up-ressing the textures.
