Suck.

Tool's lightmap uvs are the worse that I have had to work with when it comes to baking lightmaps, they overlap, they are out of scale, they are just shitty. And some of the maps I have been working on recently ended up having good lighting but are constantly overlapping and are blurred out due to improper texel scaling. So I ask.

Someone please work on Custom Lightmap uvs or at least provide a white-paper of some sort that maps out the sbsp tag other people or myself can look into something like this.

I'd like these too, using custom lightmaps would help alot. Recent projects I've worked on too (one of them being with DEE actually) had some shit spots becuase of lightmap uvs. Meaning there was random black spots and light spots in area's, etc.

Seeing this happen would benefit the community alot I think.

Thats actually from a usertool command i've put together in the past couple of days. And while i haven't gotten around to completing it yet (and will now need to revise it to include custom lightmap uv's) there's a tutorial on my wiki page (http://wiki.modacity.net/wiki/User:TheFieryScythe).

Awesome! Now no one will be limited to tool's crappy uv layout.

I'd like to point out that Chaos (a.k.a. Formlesstree4) and I are working on lightmaps for our Day-Night system and we're using a test Blood Gulch map. When we get somewhere decent, we'll be making a tutorial explaining the lightmap creation side and then the Aether side. I'll cover the Aether side, while Chaos does the Lightmap side, unless he wishes to do it all himself.
