GameSpot (http://www.gamespot.com/features/6169711/index.html) has posted an article over Halo 2 Vista's new graphical features, comparing it to the original Xbox's and the Xbox 360's. Here's just a preview:

Looks cool, also if you notice the bottom of the wall is straight unlike the xbox one.

NEVERMIND, looked at wrong comparison.

TBH it looks like they took Non-AA'd shots of H2X an then zoomed and blurred them.

Ah finally not lurking. First those Xbox shots were not good. I now play in 720p on my 360 but even back in the day on Standard Def, it didn't look that bad. Anyway Anyone watch the video with the article? In it he mentioned that it was going to have 3 graphics levels on it. Low = Xbox verion of Halo 2 Med = ?? High = ?? If so then people will be in for a treat even running the game on low. Also seems a bit odd if they are taking the tweaking of individual settings away from the user.

It doesn't look that bad because you sit 10 feet away from your TV when playing xbox, unlike the whole foot when you're playing PC.

You say that like higher res textures mean nothing >_>. They have made the difference in CMT weapons, most of the time. Plus, it leaves room for sexiness.

Halo 2 Xbox 360 = Halo 2 Vista in graphics IMO. It just dpesn't have true widescreen or as high resolution. I also noticed the draw distance on H2V is really freaking far. I expect a 6600 card to run this game well. Though, if it's a bad port I'm gunna need a 7 series :X

I have Vista Home Premium ($49 because I used a coupon that came with my dad's newest digital camera) so I can at least run the game.

I've seen better-looking leaps from Xbox-to-PC in other games , notably Splinter Cell Chaos Theory (the SM3.0 mode, when turned on, really sets the PC version apart from the Xbox version). Then again, H2V doesn't look bad, and from what "high settings" looks like, I can easily handle the game. By rights, even lower-end 4-pipeline DX9 cards like the Geforce 7300 (except the 7300GT which has 8 pipes) should maintain decent framerates and settings on H2V.

The low settings don't look bad either - this fact kind of reminds me of Doom 3 (back then, even at low settings at 640x480, the game still looked fantastic, although it lost some of the advanced lighting in the process).

I wish the high system requirements actually pay off more than this. Even Far Cry, when running on 512 MB of RAM and a Radeon 9600, looks as good or even better than what H2V looks like at high detail. Hell, Geforce FOUR Ti 4600s are capable of hitting Doom 3 and Source with 30 fps on medium settings.

Then again, I'm buying H2V to play online multiplayer, not to oogle at upgraded graphics (heh, I still play csv1.6 although its graphics are from 1998).

Are you serious? That top shot looks like a sized full screen , while the bottom one is only a section... go figure.

Btw god those people that post on gamestop are retarded... anyways, the new maps are going to be the main attraction once people learn about the content that will be available for it.

Ok, the jpeg compression ruins that photo, as far as Aliasing goes, and it's probably re-sized so the "jaggies" look less "sharp" and more smooth, although I cannot say for sure. Second, look right past the warthog, look how the grass gets super blury just a few feet away. H2V will retain its texture sharpness.

So, I guess HG was also smart enough to enable AA

PC games already get higher than 1080p, including this title.

Yeah, just look at the Apple Cinema 30" - 2560x1600. The 23" Cinema can do 1920x1200, a resolution that my 20" monitor managed to handle, but with the sides cut off. Kind of BS considering that 17" laptops can have 1920x1200 displays too.

Halo 3 with 1080p is the only reason I'm not trading my Xbox 360 just yet...it'd be fun if Halo 3 released on November 9.
