The indents and grooves are way too deep.

The indents and grooves are way too deep.

Okay thanx. That should be an easy fix.

This is my favorite handgun, no doubt about that. Yeah, change those grooves a bit, and let us know asap when you get the patterns and textures on that model. Make it black.

Yes, James Bond uses the P99 now (he switched from his PPK during Tomorrow Never Dies). The P99 is more compact and easier to conceal than other 9mm pistols like the Glock or Beretta, yet is large enough to comfortably hold. And the rail thing under the barrel is perfect for a variety of attachments.

Isn't the P99 now a standard issue in some European police forces?

The top of the slide looks really wrong. It shouldn't go in like you put it... only the sides. It is hard to explain, but I own the gun. Try and study the pics better. I suppose it is a nice start though, as long as it ends up right.

[edit] Also, speaking vertically, the slide is larger. Dunno, yours seems really short =p.

Yeah I messed up a little while modeling the reference and was too far to go back. So don't expect them to be completely perfect.

Also I may remake the barrel cause when it was made I had one reference picture to work off of. now that I have more I see how the back slot is different and may have to completely remake it.

I like it. 4/5

Aside from the inaccuracies and a few icky bits, it's shaping up rather well compared to your last models. Keep it up :)

Plane modeling FTW! It seems to pwn the crap out of my other models. I actually for once looked at the tutorial snaf always posts and now I've been turned on to the light of plane modeling.

BTW...Rep would be nice *hint-hint*

good model, needs a lil fixing, but idk why no one models truley awesome hand guns. The MK23 is my favorite. Its a 45 cal that has little recoil, good stability, is very accurate, and can get the next round of very quickly.

Ok after optimisations, the poly count is around 2850. Now I have smoothing left to do.

looks good so far, just a few non planar errors. and 1 other problem area. look right before that indentation on the front of the gun, and you will see it.

Errors fixed and smoothing is finished. All that's left is to UVW and skin.
New renders of finished product. I know about the rough smoothings. Didn't have time to render the new ones before I left for school.
Magazines will also be re-worked. Too plain for my taste.

Trust me, it isn't. Not really a good angle of the handle so you really can't see it.

FINAL! I have reached the point of 4000 polies and I do NOT want to exceed that any further, so therefore this is the final product. And I noted the errors in the last pics already.

Make a box for coll geometry, don't use the gun itself.

Does any1 know the supposed coordinates for the Halo FP camera in 3DS MAX?

SMASH
June 10th, 2007, 12:05 AM
No, but for FP animation use CtrlAltDestroy's Rig Setup. It should be at Halomaps.org with the instructions along with it.

I know. Thats what I'm using. I had to adjust it a few times so i'm hoping i didn't adjust it too far.

I'm a noob at animating. So after I created and finished an animation, how do I start a new one?

SMASH
June 10th, 2007, 01:41 AM
You clear all the key frames (except the first) then start animating again.

But how? :p (Told you I was a noob at this)
EDIT: It's not showing where my set keys are. I Know where they are but it's not showing them.

SMASH
June 10th, 2007, 01:52 AM
Highlight the whole model and all the key frames will show. Then just drag, drop, and delete.

Okay I ran into two problems. First for some reason tool is telling me my reload node graph isn't the same as the rest of my animations although I'm pretty sure they are. Can someone tell me how to fix this just to be sure I didn't mess anything up?
Secondly I tried to use the ones that did compile successfully and when I tried to make my level it says that the animations did not match the model and will not animate. WTF? Am I missing something? Is there something I forgot to do in the tagging process?

LinkandKvel
June 13th, 2007, 01:37 PM
So i followed the tut exactly by CAD but I'm still having issues. Also in the other animations I saw there were no "frame l arm controller" nor "frame r arm controller". How did you guys make your animations without those nodes?
