So I'm trying to open a .dds file i extracted from the h2v mainmenu.map file but it's the type A8R8G8B8 32bit

and the image opens up a spread and messed. Does anyone know how to view it? I want to modify it by enlarging it and making it bigger then to reinject it into the map and resign it and use it.

here's the image file.

Its been a while, but that should work.
e: not all textures of that type work, you'd have to hex it.

i extracted it with gravemind. Yeah it came out all stretched and out of place because every .dds file opener i've seen doesn't support this format? i'm really confused. i'll try what you said though.

what i mainly want to do increase the image size and reinject it. because for somereason these images are very small when enabled in the actual game.

Well it seems to me that the header is corrupted or something like that.

You could extract the raw data and write a simple program to open it and resize it (Nearest Pixel Technique unless in .NET you can also that other Bicubic stuff).

Cool deal man. I was gonna say; some images extract better as a .BMP file then .DDS.


So, if you actually injected that image what process did you use? Because if image injection does work (replacing an existing image? or placeholder?) we could add new ones to the Modded MainMenu and potentially we could have custom map pictures again.

we changed the location coordinates within the mainmenu.map and as well switch the skin tags from referencing the small rank images to the larger ones.
I made .sppf patch i'll release that when it's read to be released

So those rank images were already in the game data?

yes and only problem was that it showed up in the middle of your name but he found out how to move em.

and yeah they were, like we said it's an EXACT port of halo2 xbox, nothing was removed. if someone wanted theycould recreate the whole h2x mainmenu.
