I just learned that Autodesk is very student friendly and will give you a 3 years serial code for all their software if you sign up for their student program. When I went to download 3DS Max, I noticed that they only host the latest version, 2011. I have read that the bungie .ASS exporter is not compatible with versions above 2008, is this true? in this case, is there any way to get it for free? can the student key be used on any version?

You can use Bluestreak (http://ghost.halomaps.org/bluestreak/) for the newer versions iirc.

Can you elaborate what kind of compatability this has with 3DS Max 2011 and H2V's .ASS format? I am not sure I understand what these programs do from their descriptions since it is written for Halo Custom Edition.

Wasn't that exporter 'kinda' slow if there's a lot to export? Otherwise try getting 3DS V8... (somewhere)

I cant get that one for free and I am sure as hell not able to spend $3749 for a copy, or even $100. Is the linked bluestreak exporter full compatible?

No, you will see less errors if you stick with the standard .ass exporter.
