well i'm sure this has been asked millions of times but
i'm having issues with sapien.

It just opens and closes instantly, i checked the debug and all it's saying is this

03.07.11 04:05:07 sapien pc 01.00.00.0609 ----------------------------------------------
03.07.11 04:05:07 reference function: _write_to_error_file
03.07.11 04:05:07 reference address: 401b13
03.07.11 04:05:07 Couldn't read map file './sapienbeta.map'

I've tried setting the affinity to 1 cpu processor, i've tried the sapien window fix app but it's not 64bit compatible, i tried setting the compatibility of it to windows 98/ME, i've tried disabling desktop compositions (which fixes hek+'s infininte looping when click on the menu toolbar)

and nothing is working.

"couldnt read map file." Maybe ur missing tags?

wait, does it do it for any map you try to open?

well i used hek+ to extract the tags from bloodgulch ( i assumed all the tags would be there)
i didn't download that pack of fixed/missing tags from ghost yet are those still up on halomaps?

HEK+ often extracts files incorrectly and they end up being corrupted, try re-extracting them.

before i try re-extracting.
has anyone used these yet?

EDIT:
nope didn't work, no maps work. also when i open guerilla the same error pops up but instead of it instantly closing it stays open.

03.07.11 15:16:47 guerilla pc 01.00.00.0609 ----------------------------------------------
03.07.11 15:16:47 reference function: _write_to_error_file
03.07.11 15:16:47 reference address: 4011a4
03.07.11 15:16:47 Couldn't read map file './guerillabeta.map'

maybe it's because i moved all the HEK stuff to this directory "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Halo Editing Kit\" ??

even tool spits out that error when i run it in cmd...

yes directory, make it normal thats the problem i was having with it. put all the maps and everything in the regular program files not (x86) and work from there it should work. thats what i did. On windows 7 there should be like a few games in the solitaire ect..

It works fine from (x86) as long as it's ins '\Microsoft Games\Halo Custom Edition\' and not a custom directory. There's no point in putting it in 'Program Files' because none of CE or HEK is made to work under 64bit iirc.

hmm alright, in my 32 bit folder a custom directory worked fine and it was much easier to handle, but whatevs is an old game lol
