I can kind-of see it if I squint. Other than that, I really don't know what your trying to get at.

What i'm getting at is a custom but powerful weapon based off of the halo reach focus rifle. my team and i are attempting to make halo 4.

You're going to fail hard, CMT has been the most successful mapping team for Halo Custom Edition when it comes to completely custom content like that and even they didn't set their sights that high. Best of luck to you though, I'm sure you'll come up with something for Bungie to have a good laugh at. You realize they revamp the entire engine and have hundreds of employees working on a game at once right? You're what, a handful of inexperienced modders that are still learning to model and texture?

I hate to slap it in your face like this, but try making a custom map first that actually gets you some praise from the community before trying to make an entire engine modification.

For Beam Cannon, See the following:

You have a lot of work cut out for you. Recommend you get basic assets down first, like weapons, vehicles etc.

look, its important tht i have a try. AND i'm starting to get tired of this criticism. I'll take it, but these forums have gone way too far. I'm sick of it. This is my last post. I'm never coming onto modacity... EVER

http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/6127/hahahaohwows.jpg

I'd go on about how this is far, far too lofty a goal and you should focus on something much narrower (maybe fully modeling/texturing/rigging/tagging a new weapon AND NOTHING ELSE) to start off with, or how HCE is old and dead and you'd be much better off learning UDK or some other engine that is actually still developer supported (!), but after your last escapade here I honestly don't know if anything we could say can convince you otherwise.

So, yeah, have fun, anybody want to take bets

the only reason i was pissed off is coz i have never learned how to take crit properly. For an australian, having crit is like someone saying it is horrible and should start again, aka telling you off. However i have managed to take crit a bit less personally but one can never shed his old habits. And just so you know, the only reason i am back is because i accidentally leaked my boss's AR pic and he said he is likely to be join modacity. by boss i mean cheddars of the FRMT.

We have plenty of Australian and New Zealand members on this forum, they take crit quite well. Your geographical location doesn't affect you maturity level, you're just not emotionally ready to take critique properly yet because mommy and daddy keep babying you and telling you how good everything you do is.

^ uncalled for. There might be a lot of NZ/AUS on these forums but the thing is I'm also in the state that got ravaged by floods. QLD is a proud state, we don't usually just sit back and let others critique our work, however I am trying to get used to crit which i will eventually be able to do. Btw, my mum and dad don't do that, in fact they would have to be one of the most criticising parents anyone will have, which is why i don't usually tell them anything about what i do. So back off alright? I have not returned just to have my head bitten off again. so please PLEASE just crit and leave it at that ok?

I'm just telling you how it is. Again, your geographical location has nothing to do with how well you can take critique. Just because your state is so proud of themselves doesn't mean you can't take critique in stride, because if you can't take critique on anything very well you're going to completely fail in almost everything you do in life. Don't try and hide your own personal inadequacies behind some stereotype that your state has made for itself, you're not your state. The fact that you don't even show your parents your creative works just furthers the hole you're digging yourself into by trying to hide your personal inadequacies, if you can't even bare to show them things that you've made you should really get the hell off of the internet. The internet is full of people that are much more judgmental than your parents, my suggestion to you is simple... Don't post your creative works on the internet until you've created something you would be proud to show your parents. If you think you've done something awesome and you show your parents and they shoot it down, you definitely shouldn't post it online.

All I'm trying to do here is help you out by giving you advice on when it's appropriate to post content and ideas. You still can't seem to grasp this fairly basic concept for some reason...

To add to that, When your posting your work, make sure you put a lot of effort into making things look nice.
Give a description or two about what it is you have, and what its designed to do. All I know from what you posted, is that its a "Cannon Beam"
I seriously looks like it took you 5 - 10 mins to make that.
Learn some tutorials, youtube everything or use the resources here. I used to make private maps for CE, never posted
anything cause they were boxes like your model.
And again, take this in a positive way, People who have a desire for modeling, art, etc. Make negative and positive feedback a tool.
Just listen

Aight, Lancer. Leave those replies to the PMs. This is his thread and he wants contructive crit. School him in etiquette through PMs.

You want crit? The model is bad, I wouldn't be able to tell if it was a gun if you didn't say so explicitly in your post. The most I can say about it is that it looks like a 'thing'. Make the handle more defined maybe? I can't say anything on the texture because I'm not even sure if it's custom or one of the diffuse maps that come with HCE.

And on your 'Halo 4' project. You see that cool post at the top of this forum? (http://www.modacity.net/forums/showthread.php?20759-Thinking-about-posting-a-thread-for-your-mod-project-Think-again!) It should point you in the right direction.

Also Wing Zero beam cannon > all

It actually looks more like a spaceship than a gun right now, when you think about it.

Open up Max and get a more "gun-like" shape, then post a picture.

He was warned for Backseat Moderation because he's been given verbal warnings before about telling staff how to do their jobs. We have a set policy here, if you don't like it you can leave.

And there I was thinking that helping users on the forums was a optional choice on the part of the community, not staff.
Had it been any other member he probably would have gotten away with saying to take it to PM's.

Well, I was simply implying that I thought he needed a more personal approach through PMs. Lancer has informed me that he has already done so. Had I known that, I probably wouldn't have posted what I did. Still, I don't think I should be faulted for suggesting something to the staff. Nobody's perfect.

No, but we're the staff. We almost always have personal chats with problematic individuals before giving them same repetitive information publicly. Our entire job is to manage the members of the site and make sure they're conforming to the AUP and community acceptable standards.

Anyhow, this thread is going nowhere fast. Hiralis, post in The Studio (http://www.modacity.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?86-The-Studio) Quick Crit (http://www.modacity.net/forums/showthread.php?22831-Quick-Crit-2011) for all your random little things from now on until you have a complete project you want to make a thread about. This thread has absolutely nothing to do with H4MT or whatever your groups name will be in the next couple days.
