Dam, thats fast. That looks like some kind of beast cooling unit too.

You probably could play halo 3 on that sucker if you had a pair of those dual processor video cards in sli. Not to mention how good halo pc would look with that thing!

Uh I could play Halo 3 on my PC. :|

Halo PC would look no better, it would just run at a higher FPS.

The cooling unit would have to be a phase changing unit and the lucky bastard got lucky.

Wow. Now I Understand your x1600 purchase.

Its phase changing, think A/C Unit.

i've also heard it called supercooling. I have a friend who is going to make one. It involves a compressor like one in an a/c or a dehumidifier. its set up much like liquid cooling, except colder.

Ok. Super Cooling? Ok. Sure. It is the best form of cooling you can use, short of Liquid Nitrogen cooling.

in a few years we may see 10ghz! that would be mad. 4 core, 10 ghz processor

lolz my AMD 64 5400+ beats that...just ignore the stepping, the fact its 130 nm, and the poorly done photoshop job xD

neways, saw this a few days ago (the first one) on an oc forum a little while ago. cool stuff. Wonder many FPS Oblivion would run at with that and quad SLI. Probably very pretty =P.

Yea, as far as I know liquid nitrogen is the best cooling.

Use a water cooling system, but use liquid nitrogen instead?

I think that in some place, the temperature of the CPU was at freezing because of the nitrogen.

I guess they could have overclocked it a bit more.

The funny thing is, awesome as it would be for running games, it's too unstable. If you have even the slightest cooling glitch, your CPU would burn out instantly. Happened to a friend of mine who overclocked his CPU to something like 3.5 using water cooling, he was stuck on a P3 after that :D

Atty

I don't see why you all think that would be so good for gaming, you'd get an extra 30 frames, maybe, and no its not like the game would look any better then it already did.

And like I said, if your cooling goes kaput, so does the CPU. Can't game on a dead PC ;)

I could do with a faster CPU, no doubts there... but I can't imagine I'll be needing 3.5GHz, let alone 5GHz, any time soon. Why bother? Sure you can run games without the CPU holding you back, but you don't need that much for the same performance, and it goes to waste.

dam.....I wouldnt bother with the effort. So what if it runs at an unoticeably smooth framerate. Still look teh same, and most likely end up going kab00m. Ill keep my 3.0ghz (wich seems to be running at like 1.9 wtf gtfo 20 fp/s in halo)

What video card have you got? It might be that... or an arseload of viruses and/or spyware...

Zeph

The Core 2 Duo series rarely passes 50% load to begin with. I really dont see a need to overclock it.

Boo Diddly

well, one application would be; say video editing or encoding video. Thats where you would see a large boost.

Or he has a P4, which at 3.0GHz is terrible.

It's a vacuum tube hooked up to his processor; call it fancy names you want.

Did I mention I now get over +70 FPS max settings with Oblivion ever since I got my new PSU?

Did I mention how I have not dropped below 150FPS in any source game with every setting maxed at 1280x1024? And my card was $100s less then yours. :O And I can play Oblivion at 1280x1024 with everything maxed at constatnt 60fps. :O

Would I notice much of a difference from my AMD Athlon64 3700+? =X

And I'd need a new motherboard anyway, I suppose.

Yes. The lowest comparable AMD is the 3800+ X2 (Dual Core.)

I wish that thing was mine too, so I could destroy it. That is the worst processor EVER. $50 dollar processors beat that thing with a quarter of the clock speed!

Meh. I'll see about it when I get a stationary computer - motherboard and processor upgrades are kind of tedious on a laptop...:p
