I think this is hilarious. It isn't "when will America learn," it's "wow, some people are just fucking nuts."

True, but most Americans tend to take things to the extreme.

Cool generalization.

Humans tend to take things to the extreme. See the Christian Crusades, WW2/Holocaust, African dictators, suicide bombers, so on.

When will America learn?
Probably at the same time when the English stop paying for over-the-top and pointless weddings for the "royal" family!

The same shit happened last year. Shit got out of hand and people died, and the year before that too. http://www.modacity.net/forums/showthread.php?19575-Black-Friday/page2&highlight=black+friday

The concept of Black Friday is fundamental flawed, they need to expand the time period (and bring prices up so its even), to reduce the amount of rampages people go on. Its the sheer factor of dirt cheap prices only available in a small time window that make people go ape shit and disregard other people's safety just for personal game.

So I reiterate, When will America learn, from past Black Fridays that its a bad situation just waiting to go wrong?

(PS, doesn't matter what country it happens in).

When will you learn that greed trumps logic? And stores have started BF earlier (which some people actually complained about for some reason lol)

check cracked.com, it happens every time there's a massive sale that crowds can't resist. the incidents that happen on Black Friday just get more media coverage, that's all.

Imagine if your local game stores suddenly said, "Today I'm selling a brand new console copy of every recent big hit for 10 quid, supplies limited." You don't think there will be a massive stampede with people getting hurt? Hell I bet the roads leading to the stores will turn into dangerous racing tracks. Doesn't matter what day of the year it is.

this isnt anything new.
all you have to do is look at video rental stores and watch their sales for ex-rental DVD's. It's not an american thing... it's the way it is.

The entire reason they do things like blackfriday is to make money.
By dropping their prices they need to sell ALOT more in a short amount of time to make the same amount of profit. So they set the store up for 1 day a year, where they have more people on hand to put them through checkouts, and advertise like crazy so they can get these massive turn-overs.

Having a quieter day or spreading it over multiple days is very bad because regardless of how much they sell, they have to pay their staff the same amount for their hours.
