View Full Version : Game of Thrones - Holy shit this TV show is awesome go watch it right now!

No seriously this is probably one of the most awesome series I have seen since Firefly, definitely locked into my top 10 TV series of all time list. If you liked Spartacus at all I can pretty much guarantee that you will enjoy Game of Thrones. It also has some really well known actors like:
Sean Bean (Lord of the Rings)
Lena Headey (300, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles)
Jason Momoa (Stargate Atlantis, Conan 2011)
David Bradley (Harry Potter)

The show also includes a lot of really awesome stuff like:
Swords and sword fighting
Blood and guts
Tits
Sex
Magic
Dragons
Loyal Dire-Wolf pups
Zombies (Wight Walkers)
Incest
Epic bloodline royal family feuding

You really need to go watch this show (preferably in 720p). It's an HBO Mini-Series that has been renewed for a second season (hopefully more, there are more books after-all). From what I've heard this is actually one of the few exceptions where reading the books beforehand is not a prerequisite, HBO did an amazing job following the book.

This is one of those series where the end of EVERY episode is a cliffhanger, so get fucking used to it. That said they are by far some of the best cliffhangers I've seen on TV ever.

...one year after everyone watched it...

But no, it's everything you say it is, which is good (for those who discount his words as garbage these days). Get ready for Season 2 on April Fool's Day!

What the hell is going on in your head? Also, I'd like to add a few of my own to that list:

Attempted Child Killing
Children Killing Children
Little Men With Sharp Tongues
Sexy Whores
BETRAYAL

And yes I just hijacked this thread, but I'm a peaceful hijacker and consented to return this bitch to the ground.

It's cool to see them pull it off in such a manner on television, I knew some smart-ass was going to point that out. I'm referring to the whole incest plot-line thing, not the incest itself (which might I add, is extremely less graphic than the regular sex scenes thank god).

And yeah, I get to all the good TV late because I don't watch anything on live TV so I have to go off the recommendations of friends. Then I acquire it and watch it when I have time.

Yes, yes it is. However, Spartacus does show on HBO. Every single HBO series has at least one episode with sex in it. That's what I've noticed. Oh and they are all completely amazing shows otherwise.

Two out of three from this century are. But Starz has more of what TeeKup would be into, considering the latest Torchwood serial...

Cortexian

Spartacus has lots of explicit sex and nudity of both genders, however the nudity is pretty period authentic from what I've read of the Roman Empire/Gladiator time period. The body types obviously aren't accurate though, there are no fat people in Spartacus really.

There is definately gay sex though, but IIRC that was common back then as well.

Its just that in our society its considered taboo and weird by many while in Rome it was perfectly acceptable for the wealthy to flaunt their bi-sexuality.

This right here is why I don't WANT to read the books. This is quite possibly the only show where I LOOK FORWARD to the cliffhanger endings. Mostly because I know that since this is HBO they will deliver another equally awesome followup episode.
Is anyone else just really impressed by the size and awesomeness of the Stark dire wolves? I think they're by far one of the most awesome little touches the series has so far.

I like the small changes in events that crop up in the TV show. It allows people who have read the novels even a little bit of suspense. And when they do it, it's simply to explain a concept from the book that is too detailed for the TV show, so they aren't breaking the story. That's than I can say for the last three Harry Potter films (HBP, DH1, DH2).

Someone on Reddit brought up a good point: Now we have to wait 2 weeks to see the next episode. I was at a loss for a moment until I realized that in some European countries, all the episodes are released on HBO GO a week before we get them. All we need is to have somebody webrip it every time :D Oh and I'm sure they will.

If a sadistic little fuck having a prostitute bludgeon the other prostitute to a pulp, a midget (who is the best fucking character) blackmails the manwhore of his sister into being a double agent, men and women are being chosen at random for interrogation via rats eating through the chest under extreme heat all the while these people are being starved to death, and a hot red-head giving labor to a smoking darkness monster all while we can see said lady's vag and deflation of her pregnant stomach is pretty tame, then I would be both horrified and utterly curious to see what a wild episode is.

alot of books are like that, because the author spends most of hist time building and creating the world, and characters.
it takes them years before they get the first book out the door, but the others follow afterwards with far less polish.

It may be rageworthy, but I really wouldn't call it a crappy plotpoint. If anything, it was the completely predictable result of Robb leading with his dick, not his brain. It effectively ends the war, allowing the plot to move forward from the clusterfuck that is the War of the 5 Kings. I actually really like that they've introduced Jeyne in season 2, so we really get to see Robb being an idiot over time, rather than him just showing up with her at his side and being like "hurr, sorry, I had to do the honorable thing"

In the books he actually gets most of his nose sliced off in that scene. The series directors have seemingly made the right decision to not spend the time and money on the makeup and facial green-screening that would be required for that effect, as he's still alive as of the latest book.

Why was the queen about to kill her kid (and only that one)?
How did the defenders not notice half an invasion force was missing?
Why did the lanisters randomly pop up at the end?
Why was sir fagalot with the lanisters?
Why did they just write off Geofry?
What happened to Stanis?
Why does 2face give a fuck about the bleeding ginger and want to take her home?
Where the fuck has little finger been lately?
WHAT HAPPENED TO JOHN SNOW?!?!?!

*they didnt randomly pop up, they left castle black at a forced march to make it to the capital to defend it.
*Do you mean the kid who was running around with geofry? he IS a lanister. the other guy was with the other baratheon, this is the guy who was sleeping with the queen.
*Geofry's alive an in his bedroom.
*stanis was captured
*2 face resents the king for him being a complete dick and is scared of fire. so his head is now forfeit for deserting, and to give them a big fuck you he'll take sansa with him
*little fingers been master baiting (no f'in idea where he is tbh) (also he's scared of the queen because he reveled he knows the kids are bastards)

Just a few corrections:

1. Everything Cersei Lannister does, she does for her children. She loves them more than anything else and will do anything to protect them from the world. Since Myrcella got shipped off to Dorne and Joffrey could not return to the Throne room to be called a coward for running to his mother, only Tommen was left to her. The sounds of the battle outside the throne room made her think Stannis was there to kill them all. She wouldn't allow her child to be brutally murdered in the same way that Elia of Dorne (Rhaegar Targaryen's wife) and her children were killed when the Lannisters sacked King's Landing for Robert Baratheon 16 years earlier. She would rather poison him and herself for a reasonably painless death.

2. Salladhor Saan, the mercenary pirate and his ships stayed out of Blackwater Bay to guard the rear against flanking fleets. That's why we didn't see them.

3. Tywin Lannister was previously at Harrenhal, not Castle Black lol. Castle Black is the main fortress for the Knight's Watch. The Tyrells decided that they would help the Lannisters destroy Stannis' forces because they would most likely benefit greatly from it while proving their allegiance to Joffrey. Once the forces were combined they crushed the invaders.

4. Sir Fagalot is Ser Loras Tyrell. He is a fag because he prances around like a hormonal bitch and he was Renly's lover. Remember how I mentioned the Tyrell's switched sides? Well Loras took Renly's armour and wore it while killing Stannis' troops to make it seem like he was Renly's "ghost".

5. Stannis was not captured. He escapes back to his remaining ships and retreats to Dragonstone. This isn't show in the TV show, though.

6. Don't be fooled. Petyr Baelish is afraid of nobody. If he looks afraid it's just a show to make his enemies think he is. The Queen already knows a bunch of people know about her and Jaime. Stannis' openly proclaimed it to the world (sent ravens to every place in Westeros) and then went to war against the Lannisters. Renly did the same.

Also he likes Sansa, not sexually, but in the way some older people enjoy other people's kids. She's sweet, and even though she won't look at him she's respectful of him. So he doesn't want to see her get hurt by the Lannisters.

I'd say that's half of it, but in the books he forced her to kiss him on the lips/mouth before he left. Later on in A Storm of Swords, he says that he should have just fucked Sansa's cunt bloody. I dunno if that was just a threat or something, though. I think it was just a threat.

XSpeeds takes a bit longer than most torrent sites (including private trackers), but once its up you don't spend forever downloading it. I think the initial seeder has some ridiculous fast internet, I'm not sure. Freelancer would know.

For the past 4 weeks I have been checking between demonoid and xspeeds for GoT torrents of the latest episodes. Usually 3-4 of them are up on demonoid by 10:30PM EST, but most of the time their seeders are few and slow, even if their torrents are legit. Xspeeds doesn't show up for over an hour, but when it does you can bet your ass you'll get it a hundred times faster than any GoT torrent on demonoid.

The whole idea behind that was that Qhorin Halfhand knew Jon would never be accepted by the Wildlings unless he demonstrated that he was willing to turn on his fellow rangers. In the book it's not quite as drawn out, the two of them get stuck in a cave with the wildlings outside, and (and I can't remember the details) they end up fighting to the death in much the same fashion. Qhorin knew he was going to die, and by sacrificing himself he gave Jon more credit in the Wildlings' eyes than Jon had before. I wouldn't expect them to trust Jon fully yet either, but it's enough that they're willing to let him into their encampment.

I've never read the books and don't intend to until I lose interest in the TV series. I'm keen to avoid the same frustrations I felt when I watched the Harry Potter films after reading the books :p

What I'm saying is that I'm sure there's more plot than what they're showing in the series. As a viewer, I'd have no problem with them slowing it all the fuck down to keep coherent (and more fleshed out) stories instead of trying to rush through 3 side plots in one 40 minute episode.
