Looks like we have an FPS version of End War here:

Peeking into the source code for the page, you can see this brief description of where the game is headed: "Pushing the boundaries of what fans have come to expect from the record-setting entertainment franchise, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 propels players into a near future, 21st Century Cold War, where technology and weapons have converged to create a new generation of warfare." There's also a link in the source to a thumbnail image (enlarged above) showing a helicopter flying toward a war-torn Los Angeles in what appears to be a newscast.

That's not saying much . You (they) mean it won't be same-shit, different-day? Ha!

I gotta admit, I'm surprised Activision allowed a new game to be pushed outside of the safe zone setting. Remember when CoD4 was developed in secret so that shit wouldn't hit the fan too hard if people responded badly? Then again, they learned that moving the setting into a new direction is highly lucrative with CoD4. I love futuristic shit if it's somewhat believable (like shit was in BF2142), so if they do this right, it may be a good game. However, untold numbers of people hate on futuristic games for the simple reason of being unrealistic. Bastards. I want this game to be good, but I also want Activision to burn in a fire.

From looking at the screenshots it looks like the game will still be using the trashy engine that CoD devs love so much. Fucking man up and build your engine or at least grow some balls and use one that has been created in the past decade.

Looks neat but will probably be shit like the rest of the Call of Duty gameplay. I expect the cinematics and stuff will be great though like usual, but... yeah. Its a COD.

I remember when COD games were good, specifically around the time I bought PC Gamer magazine back in 2003 for the CoD 1 demo on pc, and I loved it.

What annoys me most about the CoD franchise is how many prepubescent teens play and adore it. Bet they are jacking off to this news as we speak.

No. Just no. Like it's said above. It's a tank with legs.

This is a mech:

At first glance the picture of the mech in the op seems big, but then once looking again its actually relatively small. It's right next to a big ol truck.

A closer anyalsis makes me want to say those pictures are fake. Alot of the helicopters and geometry look photoshoped... eh.. not sure, not an expert, but something seems a tad fishy.

Ogot completley turned off when the guy talking said "computers.... robots...". He may be ex-military and probably not the smartest, but seriously?

And yes, the game for the most part looks like a typical CoD game with its exaggerated Micheal-Bay explosions and overall outdated graphics.
And im not saying this is as bad as what we got with MW3 being a copy of MW2, its a cool idea, but from that trailer it didn't seem very well executed.

I'm sorry, how the hell can you call this new game Black Ops 2? When the original looked like this:

OtRnpC7ddv8

It looks like they are taking 10 steps backwards. It looks awful compared to BLOPS1.

I hope GTA 5 news appears shortly, and blows this shit out the water. Now thats a real game with anticipation.

Since the story seems to be something drastically different at this current time, I'm pretty interested to see how the campaign plays out. I think they made it too cheesy by choosing a Vietname-vet sounding guy to do the voicing in that trailer. And holy fuck, did you guys all actually ignore the horses? I wanna ride a motherfucking horse! It'll be like Mount & Blade, but with automatic guns and we don't get to choose where we're going.

Btw that "mech" thing that teekup point out looks more like an APC with legs and a gun platform to me. And LOL shame on me. I almost thought the guy was going to say "What happens, when the machines stop taking orders?"

Visually, it looks like a pile of shit.

...that's what a mech is.

A Mech is a tank like weapons platform that utilizes bipedal, or reverse-joint legs over caterpillar tracks and tires.

The term is really ambiguous though.

...that's what a mech is.

As far as I know, mechs don't double as APCs. They can't spare all that empty space when they could be fitting heatsinks or weapon systems in them. Do what CoD has done and you end up with a weak gun-toting APC. Sucks at blowing shit up and is awesome at getting blown up. But of course, that is using some ounce of sense, something all CoD games have lacked since CoD4.

Caboos001

Interested in seeing what direction game play goes with the new setting, but this is most likely going to be a rental/borrow for me. I stopped buying CoD games after MW2. I'm really hoping that since CoD is going into the future all the other developers will do what they do best and play follow the leader back into space shooters, then maybe we will get another BF2142; here's hoping.

Then you need to brush up on your mech info. Many mech archetypes and constructs in several genre's can act this way. Most notably Ghost In The Shell. Like I said, the term is ambiguous.

tbh this actually looks cool so far and I am looking forward to seeing and hearing more

Treyarch made bigger changes in the engine with BO1 than IW made with MW2 and MW3. I can't wait to see what they do with this game.

It looks like they are focusing a lot on the story this time. I don't understand why they are calling it Black Ops 2 though. I mean, I can see how the "black ops" fits in, but I don't think it will make as much sense as the Black Ops 1. I actually expected IW to be working on a game exactly like this (COD: FUTURE WARFARE :haw:), which would essentially start a new trilogy. With the tidbits of plot we've been given in the trailer, I don't see why Activision wouldn't want to milk this for an entire standalone trilogy. However, with the Black Ops name, it wouldn't make sense.

Kornman00

Well, seeing as how the franchise isn't very creative with the majority of their games, it's not surprising they're not creative with their names either.

See I was thinking the same thing but honestly, the COD target audience is no longer the hardcore gamer crowd (not sure if it ever fully was). But basically the people COD appeals to is still a massive majority, Middle/High Schoolers and people who love Madden. There's still a surprising number of people outside of that who will still play it. And the hype feels less because the media is bored with it, doesn't mean their numbers won't still be huge. I doubt we'll see them top MW3 but they'll still see hefty profit.

Call of Duty is just like fast food. Its not bad to have once in a while, but when they shove pointless stuff down your throat you get sick of it. I watched a video on a whim about Blops2 and was somewhat intrigued by a couple things mentioned here.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BV9XMtnZPSQ

I was mostly interested in the Campaign sandbox element. Now, I don't believe that it will be as expansive and interesting as they claim in the video, It still makes me happy to see that they are atleast attempting to make the game less linear.

Not exactly interested in much else. Watch the first couple minutes before he gets to talking about multiplayer.

Thoughts?

DarkHalo003

Besides the campaign, why would you play a bad game? I'm basing this claim off of the fact that the CoD series has been little to no different since MW2 in terms of gameplay. We all know how that is.

So the production factory for the retail disc version screwed up and stamped a Mass Effect 2 image onto the 2nd install disc of Black ops 2.

Hilarious. Luckily anyone affected can still use the Steam download to finish the install.

So has anyone actually played this game

Roommate bought it. Keep in mind I never played Black Cops 1.

Campaign's interesting so far, I kinda like the RTS-like missions they put in alongside the normal ones. The futuristic weaponry also interests me but at the same time seems gimmicky. I dunno.

Multiplayer in core gametypes is more or less the same as Modern Warfare has always been: inconsequential deathmatch no matter the gametype (objectives are for scrubs m i rite?), that's about 80% luck, 15% who shoots first, and 5% skill. If that. But still a great way to fill bars, as always. The new options in the create-a-class screen are cool but overwhelm me at the same time. I'll figure it out eventually.

Zombies mode... first time I've played zombies mode in any Call of Duty spinoff (never got WaW or BO1). It's fun, but TranZit mode has absolutely zero conveyance. There's apparently a point to it all past surviving and riding the bus but if you want to know what it is you might as well just read guides online or, if you have friends that play, stumble around for a few hours as you kill zombies. For some reason matchmaking is outright broken for me here, it can't seem to join any games yet.

Oh, also one of the player characters in Zombies is voiced by Ashleigh Ball.
