Not interesting unless it comes with an ungimped EK.Calling it right now, it'll be xbox exclusive with no MP (or maybe a map pack for H4) just like H:CE was to Reach

Might be cool, but they may need to actually change the fucking gameplay. (Looking at YOU, Quarantine zone :saddowns:)

Um, we don't really need a Halo 2 anniversary to be honest here...

It made sense for Halo 1, but it really doesn't for Halo 2. The only thing they need to do is re-enable Halo 2's online, and that's pretty much it.

Nothing I'd like more than to be reminded that they're still not bringing back dual-wielding.

will it come with the 900000000000000000 glitches still intact?

I heard some people actually like playing broken games.

I will say that trying to play co-op H2 on a 360 is a pain in the ass because it forces you to go to vertical split screen. Worst concept ever, I have no idea who would ever want to play like that. It would be cool to have a version that runs the campaign decently on the 360. I agree though, it still looks decent tnough that it doesn't really need a full graphical makeover.

I think the idea was with widescreen you would have more space to work with compared to horizontal?

On the Xbox it was horizontal, but I guess halo 2 defaults to its 'hd/widescreen mode' whenever run on a 360.

You may technically have more pixels per player to work with, but when it looks like you have blinders on, you can't see anything, and it's such a pain. You may have a great view of the floor and ceiling, but you can only see the enemy standing right in front of you.

I'm pretty sure you get the same number of pixels no matter how you divide the screen in half. It's still half.

Also all the haters can eat feces, I want this game.

Look at H3 and (I think) Reach- if you do split screen it cuts off a bit on either side to keep a 16:9ish ratio for both players, just shrunk down. H2's vertical splitscreen utilizes the entire screen, but sacrifices any sort of peripheral vision, which drives me nuts.

Examples of each type of splitscreen

I'm pretty sure Halo 4 will be the last halo game, and they'll spend the next 20 years remaking each one over and over again.

Hmm. I don't recall Halo 2 doing it that way. Either way, I'd still definitely take extra horizontal FoV over a better view of the ceiling.

given the new reticle position in everything post halo 2 seems like having a good view of the ceiling was a priority for bungie

Multiplayer?

Halo 3: 2007

Halo Reach: 2010

Halo 4: 2012-13?

You are right that the games are coming sooner, but the technology is also a lot better than it was before, so these kinds of things can be produced 2/3 quicker. Generally speaking, every major installment of the Halo Franchise has been at least 2 years apart. Plus, the biggest point I want to address is that every game has had decent to great quality to it. I shouldn't even have to explain why CoD games past CoD4 or WaW don't have decent to great quality.

I only found that it did it when running it on a 360 in HD. Switch to standard definition and it ran in horizontal split screen.

The game was released in 2004 right? I would be 100% for an update of the MP in 2014; Im not to much of a fan of halo MP after reach. However the campaign, no. I went on my rant on that in the h1 anniversary thread.

The Halo 1 anniversary was a nice treat to get, an old game with updated visuals and other minor things. However to continue making "anniversary" editions of previous games just makes 343 look like they are trying to milk the game and "make it their own".

Seeing as how online co-op is something people have been wanting since ever, yeah it seems like a pretty good marketing decision. I'll buy it.

Honestly, as long as they don't do Halo 2 Anniversary the way they did Halo Anniversary, then I'm all for it. There's also the fact that they wouldn't be able to make a Halo 3 Anniversary for a VERY long time.

My only gripes with Anniversary are cutscenes (terribad lip synching, horrible animations, horse-Keyes), lighting (seriously, nobody at Saber took lighting theory, apparently, or even looked at the original game lighting), and a few odd texture changes. Loved the terminals, overall liked what they did with most areas, especially exteriors, and of course enjoyed the online co-op. If they can just do a better job with those things with H2 Anniversary and keep it closer to the original design, then I'll be fine with it.

They kinda split that map into outskirts and metropolis, which is kinda smart i guess, to make the gameplay longer. Halo 3 ODST had a few maps that kinda resembled the look of this iirc. Plus this version was very resource-demanding for a xbox. Oh well. All i know is that the campaign couldve been a lot better then the final product was.

Necroing a thread to make a useless post? Halo is not a Cashcow because it is retaining continuity rather than beating a dead horse (or cash pinata rather). 343i is still creating quality content for their next games. If you think this makes Halo a cashcow, then that must make Square Enix an even bigger cash cow for doing wonderful remakes/ports of older Final Fantasy games.

Private Caboose
October 7th, 2012, 07:07 PM
*facepalm* I meant on the majority, it's a cash cow. Yes, they make a whole lot better content for the game, but it is still a massive cash cow. 343i does make each game better than the last, yes it does have continuity, however the game is just a cash cow. We don't need a H2 remake, yet they're still doing one. All 343i has to do is unlock the H2EK and a proper modding team can make H2 Anniversary for free and release to everyone in the community.

1) Halo4 is their first game and hasn't even been released yet
2) This isn't exactly the mentality of MS. The execs would however go for something that has a real ROI. Licensing an EK, for example, would be one way to do that (of course then they have to support it, instead of just releasing and walking away). Something they may do in the future on later Halo games should they decide to come back to the PC. It would take someone at 343i with a strong desire to make this happen though.

Private Caboose
October 8th, 2012, 02:34 AM
I'm well aware that 343i will practically never pay attention to the PC community. It's the M$ fear of modding that really annoys me. Look at the stuff our community has done with a 11/12 year old engine.
