View Full Version : Problem with my new PC.

So the otehr day I got all my parts, and started building my new pc. So once I am done, I hook it all up, and turn on the PSU, a blue light on the mobo turned on. So I go to press the power button, all the fans start to spin, and then stop. Nothing else happens. No bios loading on screen, no hard drive or DVD drive sounds. Then I look back inside my case, and I notice that there is a yellow light that has now turned on. Anyone know what I did wrong. I'm not surprised if it's the wiring, so I included pics.

Got any marinara for that spaghetti??

Seriously though, check your ram. Make sure its seated firmly all the way. That is one of the biggest sources of failure, other than a graphics card thats not seated properly.

EDIT: Check the ram stick second from the right. It looks like it might not be seated correctly. Could just be the pic, but thats what I think.

Doesn't look like your main power connector is in all the way.

Make sure you use those golden screws for the mobo to avoid static charges.

Oh and make sure you have it on 110 Volt not 220...yes this can be crucial...seems like your system powers down after not receiving enough energy or wasting to much.

It could be a PSU problem. Not enough power or it's just bad, what PSU did you get?

try by taking out a stick of ram, one at a time and turning it on. so you have 3 sticks in when you turn it on

Oh, shit dude. you got a super virus. It's so advanced, your computer doesn't have to be built yet to be infected. Looks like you're gonna have to burn it and start over.

Oshi your going to love this.

Exact same thing happened to me when I first built this computer, I put everything together, flipped the master power (all the lights on my Striker Extreme turned on), and then hit the power button, the PC turned on, fans and all, and then shut off.

I tried EVERYTHING, reseated my processor about four times, reseated my graphics card, RAM, tried different RAM configs, left un-needed parts out. Nothing. Bios wouldn't even Post.


Now, if your Bios Posted (showed up on your screen), this is probably not the problem, however. I took my entire rig back to the manufacturer three days after and had then diagnose EVERY part individually.

Motherboard was faulty, not my fault, they sent it back and got me a new one in a couple days.

Some motherboards are very selective about what type of RAM goes into them.

Also, Masterz you could check to see if you crushed the processor while installing the heat sink. Sometimes the hard drive itself could be faulty too.

I'm positive it's a faulty motherboard, we're using the same chipset, with the same problems.

If it was the hard drive it would still post, I'm sure he's been smart enough to at least try....wait, nope, it's masters, can't be too sure.

Funny Atty. Anyway, it was my mobo that is bad. New one should arive in a few days.

LOL. When it comes to Masterz, I've learned to set my expectations to the lowest common denominator.

Now to get back on topic. Neil, when you set up the new board set up try at least not too make the wiring look like a train wreck. Must be a pain in the butt to use the canned air on.
