Compared to my quickly aging ATI Radeon 9250, how well would my new ATI Radeon X800 perform?

Just a quick questimation before I install it into my new motherboard. I haven't installed it already because I'm having memory compatibility issues, which was solved 3 minutes ago.

two words:

far superior.

But why an X series card? It doesn't have Shader 3.0 support...you should get an X1000 series card instead.

Well Jayden sent me this card. I would get an X1000 but I don't have the money right now, however that changes in the next few days as I start my new job. :)

My x800 has always been good to me.
The 9250 had only SM 1.1 support if I'm not mistaken.

No, the 9250 used DX8.1 so it had shader 1.4 support. It's just a faster 9200.

Anything less than a Radeon 9500 lacks DX9 support and should be avoided.

Yeah the X800 will own at Halo/CE and many other games, just that it can't enable any SM3.0 features in later games.

Have fun with all those awesome settings and framerates.

I'm going to have to wait about a week or 3 though. I don't have the money currently to buy the memory I need for my new motherboard. In time though, I'll have it assembled.
