Taken from MSN's website, they had this on the front page so I suckered in and clicked it, they were advertising the "short film."

Excitedly I thought I may have been able to download it, but no... I was just able to view it. Since IE7 refuses to actually use Flash's streaming video on most websites, and that MS equivalent to it, I opened up Mozilla with this link:

http://halo3.msn.com/videosHD.aspx

Took me straight to the video.

And yes I'm, sadly, majority of the time an IE user.

I don't know if that's already been posted. And because I don't want to do a new thread...

I still don't get why one the ODST's didn't open up on the Banshees with the turret. Thats what it's for after all.

The gunner position = substantially less cover, and they were being totally overrun.
They also needed the back to toss the big black box in, better than wasting time stuffing it in the passenger seat and making sure it was snug.

Just ideas.

True. Also, if you were in that situation, tell me exactly what you think your chances would be of even hitting those things? Even if you did, that would not knock it out of the sky. And like he said, the passenger seat had cover.

They were ODST's, they could have thrown the box into the passenger seat, and all I saw overrunning them were Banshees. He wasn't even firing from the passenger seat though.

A 9mm round isn't going to do ANYTHING to a banshee.

Beg pardon?

Shall I say it? Neither the 9mm round from the BR55, or the .45 cal round from the warthog will do anything to those fighters unless hit repeatedly.

teehee, it is a slightly more potent 9mm round, because 13 magnum rounds is a kill, but 12 br rounds also kill. But I'm crazy, so ya. :P

jngrow, the video game version of the Halo universe, and the live action portrayal would have much adjustment...

The game had those characteristics because of balancing it's technology. The live action would be much more closer to real world situations, such as speed, actual physical properties, and lots of other things.

I agree, in Halo, you can bring down a Banshee with a pistol, you have to bring down 2 on the second level of Halo 1. But in real life, even Explosive rounds would do nothing to that thing unless you shoot through the little gap, and in reality the Banshee is moving at an upwards of 500 MPH, so it isn't going to happen.
Also in real life, Spartans can jump from 250 feet in the air and live with no parachute, move from one place to another in the blink of an eye, snipe with Aimbot accuracy, punch hard enough to shatter your skull entirely and snap your neck, and pick up a vehicle and throw it at a group of Covenant. Does the game have these things? No, it would ruin the balance. Yeah, throwing a Warthog at a group of Jackals is entertaining, but you can't do it unless you are playing multiplayer on Forge, and you are the Monitor, who decided it would be funny to drop a hog on someone's head. Or make a crate fly across the map and splatter someone against the wall.

Anyway, there are all sorts of discrepancies between the game and real life combat. For one, you respawn in the game, but in real life, the Afterlife doesn't live in fear of you.
So in real life, you would snipe and move to another location, not snipe until you die. And you also wouldn't jump off of a cliff, crouching in mid air to try to find a secret room in real life.

Oh, and real life allows more then 16 people at a combat site.

Wow, it looks soooooooooooo much better with proper color. And you can actually hear everything right ^_^. I'm looking forward to part 2 and more.

It might just be the adaptation of game models to the big screen, but the Brutes dont feel like they're implemented as good os some of the creatures in the directors previous shorts.

Yeah, I think he was just trying to make the brutes look as close as possible to H2. I personally think he should have gone H3 style, as the game comes out in 3 weeks, and by the time this baby comes out officially, it would be 2 or maybe even 1 week, so since you're so close, let us have our H3 Brutes.
