I think this (http://legitreviews.com/article/436/1/) could rob a small neighborhood of lights within minutes if you filled it up. quad-quad SLI anyone?

1800 watts on the 12V rail with 150 AMPS! WHY?! can you even draw that much from your average home?

http://legitreviews.com/images/reviews/436/ultra_2000w_psu_1.jpg

Oh, and I think you need a thermaltake armor to fit this thing. xD

My friend Ed could use that. All of it.

I swear, he turns his PC on and every light within 5 miles dims a couple of shades. He has so many LEDs in it that it's not even funny.

Hmm, I wonder if they use that for professional stuff, such as CG rendering.

House sockets are only 15A, you'd need a dedicated like your dryer and refrigerator plug into, even then there is no point.

Too bad Ultra is considered shit in the tech world. It would probably die if anywhere near full load.

What if it was overkill?

legionaire45
January 7th, 2007, 05:36 PM
I honestly would never trust one of those in my PC (I personally owned an Ultra "firestarter"). But hey, more power to fry your components with, right?

Wow, that's quite a beast. I just upgraded to 700 watts, which I thought was a lot.

legionaire45
January 7th, 2007, 07:35 PM
Same, I have a 700 watt GameXstream. I think you could actually run 4 8800 GTX's in SLI if drivers allowed and you actually had enough PCIe links on the 2kW beast.

Yeah, the whole house loses power if someone plugs in an electric heater.

...If I lived near you, just to be an asshole, I'd come over to your house, plug in an electric heater and leave without letting anyone know...

Yeah, the whole house loses power if someone plugs in an electric heater.

That happens to me if 2 heaters get plugged in. Pisses me the f*** off when I'm trying to do something then suddenly my idiot family decides to all plug in their heaters and there goes the power. Then of course I have to go out back and reset the breakers.

I can think of only one reason for a machine that big: Overkill components that won't fit into a normal pc. (Note the extra fans along the sides and top of it...)

rossmum

"Split" indeed.

I wouldn't keep my PSU near drinks anyway, you'd have to be rather dim to do so. It'd be fine under a desk or somewhere else where it's not likely to get things spilled on it.

I have 650 Watt and I've never had issues ( I had a 350 and it failed ), I'm getting a 750 or a 1000 for my Vista PC, WIN! Plus, your PC doesn't draw that much power all the time only when It needs it.

EDIT: Atty, I have a couple of PC's in my basment that are like pentium two's, I have the PSU's outside the case to save on heating bills ;)

:confused2::confused2::confused2: I need help finding the wattage my power supply uses:

Don't tell me i have to open my computer up again, and then get out my surgery tool kit...and lighting systems...

I have a Dell Dimension 1100, 1.024 GB RAM, ATI Radeon PCI Bus 256 MB Graphics Card, and an Intel Pentium 4 HT. and the reason i'm finding the wattage of my computer's power supply is because i need to make sure i can handle this... http://www.visiontek.com/products/cards/retail/x1300_256pci.html
that little babe, is my gateway to Halo 2 Vista and Windows Vista Ultimate, PLUS! I won't have to deal with the weird Active Camouflage Crap Looking-Like Shine in Halo PC and Halo CE anymore! YAY! :XD::lol::):D

And i'm not strong enough with my bare hands to open my computer up.

J/K but still...:eyesroll:

legionaire45
January 29th, 2007, 02:13 AM
really, go for something that is not PCI based. Sure, that card will run vista, but it will suck. badly.

Also it should say somewhere on the PSU how many watts it is. Take a pic of it and post it.

DaneO'Roo
