I don't know if this is the right section, so move it if you want.

I used Comic Life which comes built in most macs I think, it did on mine anyway. Or theres a new beta out for Windows, which I'm probably going to start using if it works. Well the betas over, but you can still download a 30 trial for it. I actually did this before, I remade the entire first level from Halo 1 into a short comic book in about 10 pages. I had a video on youtube of it, but I must've deleted it.

Click for each page.

Comments? Questions? Go for it.

If you're confused, I'll have a short backstory on a freewebs page or something later on, if I get enough good comments on this, and decide to actually make a conclusion to what happens on page 7 :)

Ok here's basically what went on.

Stuck in a cryo tube for the last two years, Spartan H07 wakes up in a abanded command base. He goes the office to phone for help, but a UNSC representitive tells him that his commisioned has expired because he remained inactive for over six months. He realizes that he has been in there for a while, and responds with a quick, "I know." A bit confused he turns around just to see an elite there about to kill him.

Before deciding it was a good idea to interrogate the elite about why he was there, he kills him.

UNSC decided to send in Spartan 252 to take down H07. But then, 252 talked them into giving him another chance, so they captured him (by shooting a rocket at him to knock him out). Bringing him to a underground fort that was left alone for hundreds of years, they decide if H07 can survive a 'hunt' and take down Spartan 252, then they will recruit him back into the UNSC. 252 uses his spartan laser to wake H07 up. H07 is left with his own spartan laser thats been dried down to have only one shot left in it. And a Guardian Stick (gravity hammer), which he has no idea what it is, or what it does.
(I changed the story only slightly so I can get it in words better, like in the original comic pages, there was no mention of a cryo bay, or the six months of inactivity or anything).
I'll make sure #2 will be better and less confusing.

No sense of direction, no plot, no designated opening, and the scenes are beyond confusing. Like all good Mac programs, you just can't take a crash course on the tut and think you're the cat's pajamas. You're better off working with Photoshop and applying your own filters instead of having a program do it all automatically for you.

Way to kill my self esteem even if it is true. I've been making comics for 3 years in a class at high school, I just wanted to start it again because it's been a while, so I'm still a bit shaky on story ideas.

Yeah, the last thing I made in photoshop took about a week and a half, and it apparently sucked since my teacher gave me a 95 or something.
I killed the quality in this jpg if anyone wanted to see it. (http://img219.imageshack.us/img219/4654/finalbc5.jpg) <It was made in the comic class, so it has the 'cartoony' look to it. And don't anyone say you can do this in 5 minutes. I know you can't.

I'm trying to learn Gimpshop, because it's slightly different than photoshop, and I don't have photoshop.

"Making comics" doesn't cut it in the department. There needs to be story elements, a set-in plot, and logical vantage points that make sense. You're working with the game now, so it's a matter of setting up your shots and then messing around with them in a program. And even if you don't have Photoshop, I suggest you get it by sailing the seven seas.

Also, your previous work, while an effort went into the detail, your proportions are still off. Probably why your teacher docked you.

Other then that, you need to rethink how to do web comics, especially if you're going to be using a program that does a lot of it for you. Work at it for long enough and you'll improve.

I was confused about what was going on, but the frames look really good. Keep going with this.

Theres actually a couple different ways. But, I don't know them off hand, if I had photoshop in front of me, I'd be able to tell you.

I tried to explain things better in the op.

I only share my comics with cultured people (i.e. People that can think past Point A).

His comics are good, Dano. No need to get upset about what he said, because it's true. Just like when you crit textures or I crit models.

What's wrong with the proportions? The reason my teacher "docked" me was because the written part, I worked my ass off to get that picture to be the best thing I've ever done. (Was also the last picture I've ever made, which was about 5-6 months ago).

The story is pretty weak... I don't get it. And I'm not really sure what exactly this program you're using does, but the frames do look nice.

Okay, instead of telling me my picture is terrible, why not tell me how the proportions are messed up? I have a printed version hanging up on my wall and see no problem with it. It looks fine. The one thing I can think of is maybe the neck is too big, but thats it.

Oh, and thanks for all the complements on the comic guys.
