As some of you may already know, we (Zteam; Myself, Choking Victim, and ShadowSpartan) have been working on a campaign mod (how original ;p). The project actually started back around February of 2005, well before even CMT's SPv1 was even in concept. It began to progress slowly at a first, starting with the content (which most of you have already gotten a taste of with out public beta releases in April of 2007). The actual campaign modification portion didn't start until a couple of months ago. Since then, we've made some considerable progress:

A great advancement in our work and soon the entire Halo CE community was the "figuring-outing" of script extraction by CV and Shadow. With this, we were able to break most of the barriers we have encountered previously in our possibilities of adding in any real cool stuff.

Wow, very nice work. But I dont like the repeated repeated textures textures thing goin on in a30, namely the gound textures. And one other thing. Can someone please kill that Coag map? Please? The textures set a really ugly mood. Everything looks like its washed out and browned. :blech:

those repeating textures are really unnoticable when your on the ground playing, but it it becomes much of a problem, ill try and fix it.

also, where the fuck would there be an area large enough to handle a scarab fight in H1? mb where you get the last banshee at the end of 2 betrayals, but I can't think of anywhere else O_o

also, if you have the POA fly over like In amber clad or regret's ship in H2, that'd be fucking epic :O!!

Can we expect H2 style lock-on rockets?
me and l33t had a method of scripting it so if your looking at an occupied vehicle you can lock on, but if your looking at a biped it wont lock on. idk if we're still doing it , but most likely.

actually, the PP kinda does that so it shouldn't be that hard right?
l33t accomplished that a long time ago, and included the moving reticule and beeping sounds and whatnot.

Damn, this mod is looking good. I've only been following it's progress since when, the beginning? I can't wait to see this be finished, especially the SP. What would you say the &#37; of the mod is done? Anyways, keep up the good work!

Thats not the huge problem with it. The huge problem is this:

It doesn't look anything like grass. It looks like a green and dark green render clouds + sponge filter that got pixelated. It really is not a good texture at all.

It would make a nice rock detail map. For a main grass diffuse? You have to be joking.

Anyway, this looks better then SPV2! Been in production longer, so I guess I should expect it to look better.
New grass=WIN, as long as you do what D4NO suggested.
Containment=WIN.
Coag=PHAIL.

So the new campaign is coming out soon (Read: A LOOOONG time from now)? Like, how soon? By my birthday (1 week from tomorrow) soon? (Hopefully, but not gonna happen) Or by Christmas soon?

Oh, and use the Halo 3 Scarab model (If you can rip H3 yet, I think you can, I saw it somewhere). The Halo 2 one looks like a Basket. With legs.

I was referring to using the base geometry from Halo 1, even if it ends up depolied. Unless I'm mistaken, that model is from Halo 2 cinematics. I perfectly understand issues of framerate.

You see, one of the problems with converting H1 BSPs for use is that they usually wind up royally screwed in Max.
Meh, just keep that version of the POA, you'll only see it up-close once the entire time, in a cutscene.

No, not really. I've never had any problems importing BSP models for later use - you must be doing something wrong. The only issues that come up when I recompile are collision/portal-related, which are irrelivant when making a .gbxmodel.

Please get your facts straight :)

The Epic sensors are off the chart. In halo 3 the flood cruiser and High Charity crashing was epic, however thats halo 3. If done in CE, it would surpass those.

Dano, its really the only thing that truly fits the atmosphere, it's used in delta halo as a mossy kind of jungle look. I agree it doesn't look like grass though, and ill try a few other looks and see how it comes out.

It's literally copying one of the channels from the extracted normal map, copying it as a layer on the diffuse texture, and setting overlay blend to fakebump it, then going in with burn and dodge tool to make highlights and shadows to unfail the bitmap, then copying the guns specular map from the alpha of the diffuse texture as a new RGB bitmap then overlaying a greyscaled of the diffuse texture onto that, then overlaying the same normal map channel used earlier ontop of that, and making it coloured pink/purple and colouring things green and shit for glow and crap accordingly. The only people who know the amount of effort put into painting a model from scratch are the ones who've done it.

It's seriously like 10 minutes work in my eyes. Does look good though.

Not quite.

Ripping alone results in shit. The amount of work they've had to do to get them looking that good is almost comparable to just making it from scratch.
Not at all, there's no real skill in "sexifing" H2 textures. Personally, I think all the shaders but the environments looks like :-\, but thats what happens when you use ripped content. What makes Zteam so impresive is the sheer amount scripts and animations to me.

L33T, ShadowSpartan and ChokingVictim; you guys are awesome. It looks great, and even though I wanted to make a long ass post of how awesome it is, I can't, but I can say it is awesome. Fuck :o

Also, that Phantom is so sexy, it gives Jessica Alba a run for her money... No wait it doesn't, nothing beats Jessica :v

Pics do alot of justice, but do we have a chance to see it in motion, other than the Beam Rifle?

i agree with that. id like to see other weapons in action, since the beam rifle is my least favorite weapon in h2. idk its model is just unattractive, impractical for a rifle. plus, why have a purple gun? anyways...

Actually if you watch the remastered Halo cutscenes commentary on the legendary disc, you will hear that the main reason all the stuff is purple is because Jason Jones' favorite color is purple.

DOY a sniper rifle IS a rifle. not all rifle's are fully automatic guns with massive clips. rifle= gun with long barrel(other than shotguns) and a sniper has a damn long barrel

what i mean is, the "barrel" looks like a spout or the end of a hose, and is waaaay to long in comparison to the handle, which is extremely short, with little to no stock. also, if it shoots particles, wouldnt there be no recoil? which could account for the lack of a stock, but the gun sure seems to recoil to me. in any case its ugly

energy sword handle = silver/black

armors= blue, red, green, orange, white, black

doesnt seem like purple dominates to me... but then again, im partially colorblind. people say ghosts and wraiths are purple, but they look blue to me.:rolleyes: i guess this means that beam rifles are made of something different and unusual?

My computer has been in disarray for a while, I tried to reformat it 2 times, each time failed because service pack 2 keeps fucking up my computer (incompatible with my bios which is from like 2002, at least thats my hypothesis) and I have yet to do a reformat without doing a service pack 2 install since then, I'm going to have to find time to do it soon though.

Please learn to type, or don't post in this topic. As for getting higher res textures, they are taken directly from Halo 2. They are the same as what is in the game and you can't get any higher res than that.

They are the same as what is in the game and you can't get any higher res than that.

And that is what Is limiting the mod. Halo 2s diffuse textures are often lower res because of the added bump maps make up for it. You guys really should repaint them. It's not that hard since the bitmaps are already there, you just.....paint over them.

The mod has been in the works since February 2005, as CAD said in the first post. And that is just MP, and a revamp of the current Halo 1 campaign. How long do you think it would take someone to port a whole campaign over? A long time. And there are engine limitations that would make it very difficult. So its not going to happen.

ZMT has out lasted CMT because ZMT's members work constantly and with motivation, while CMT just sort of came to a halt because no one wanted to work anymore due to a loss of interest.

I think he meant it in more of a "Do you even know how long CMT has been developing?" tone. I'll agree with Clad that they came out early, but I don't think that its what killed them. They were all busy with their LIVES and figured a halo mod wasn't worth all this time. I am saddened that it got killed when it was doing so well (or seemed to be). But enough about CMT, this is ZTeam dammit. Seeing all this made me react like an athsmatic fish out of water in a room full of pot smoking fratboys.

Just an idea, but maybe you guys can add a new objective to the Silent Cartographer where you have to assassinate a Minor Prophet who has found the Cartographer.
Just add the Prophet of Mercy model from Halo 2, give him Halo 2's little Prophet Chair-thingy, and make him sit there, looking at the Cartographer, with Elite and Brute Honor Guards guarding him. Then attach an invisible vehicle for boarding, and make it so when you exit, it looks like you're punching and killing him (with some help from scripting to make him invincible otherwise), and then blow up his chair. No new BSPs, just modifying a objective and adding a Prophet.

You're the only one who has mentioned it's stupid, though. That has to count for something, right?

There is no reason to be fighting an Arbiter if you're already going to be doing some intense fighting with 25 other new enemies along with new scenery, weapons, new shaders and teh shiny. So why someone wouldn't be fully content with THAT MUCH is beyond my comprehension of "Quantity v.s. Quality"

Just an idea, but maybe you guys can add a new objective to the Silent Cartographer where you have to assassinate a Minor Prophet who has found the Cartographer.
Just add the Prophet of Mercy model from Halo 2, give him Halo 2's little Prophet Chair-thingy, and make him sit there, looking at the Cartographer, with Elite and Brute Honor Guards guarding him. Then attach an invisible vehicle for boarding, and make it so when you exit, it looks like you're punching and killing him (with some help from scripting to make him invincible otherwise), and then blow up his chair. No new BSPs, just modifying a objective and adding a Prophet.

NOOO... cortana says (in halo 2) that a prophet "must be some kind of religious leader" which means that humanity has never encountered one before. so in other words, honor guards, prophets, or anything directly related to a prophet wouldn't fit. remember, in halo 1, you could have finished the entire game without EVER realizing that this was a holy war, provided that you had not read the books.

Ew, I hated the boarding Prophet shit. It looked dumb and didn't fit in.

I think adding a prophet into the Halo campaign would actually be really cool. Yes and the previous arbiter. His background story was probably letting the MC live instead of killing off ALL of the Spartans.

Well they are including Drones , honor guards, and the sentinel enforcer which all are only in Halo 2 because they are needed their. Plus what would the point of honor guards if they are not guarding anything. So there must be a Prophet somewhere. Also the sentinel enforcer was only in Halo 2 also so that would alter the campaign MOD.

Well they are including Drones , honor guards, and the sentinel enforcer which all are only in Halo 2 because they are needed their. Plus what would the point of honor guards if they are not guarding anything. So there must be a Prophet somewhere. Also the sentinel enforcer was only in Halo 2 also so that would alter the campaign MOD.
I fail to see adding a sentinel enforcer would alter the campaign story in any way. I can understand a Prophet altering it, since it is a major character but not an enforcer. As for Honor Guards, would adding them alter the storyline? Nope. They look cool so why not add them.

Hell they could be guarding some high ranking elite, and all 3 had swords. FRUSTRATION LOL (I don't care if they're only Prophet guards. Like Shadow said they look cool and it'll just make sense if they're guarding SOMETHING)

I said MINOR Prophet, not anyone like the Prophet of Mercy. In the book Halo: The Flood, Yayap and the Elite whose name I can't spell meet with one of the Prophets, one who wasn't in Halo 2. You could use him without altering the storyline, since even Minor Prophets outrank Gold Elites, and a Minor Prophet could die without altering a story line. In one of the books the chief faught a brute before the the ring was destroyed.

Ah yes, I was going to ask that question, too. Didn't get around to it trying to construct a story around a Prophet.

I think he meant scripted events like the Longsword bombing run, similar to the one from the halo 2 E3 trailer. Can you alternate/change the cutscenes in the campaign?

Halo 3's scarab vehicle was great for AI, but that scarab from extinction (I don't know if your scarab is completely new or a revamp of extinction's) had stupid walking animations.

Will you have a preset path like Halo 2?

It's an alien weapon, made for aliens, out of alien material. Why the fuck would it need to be anything like what we define as a rifle? Why are you even classing it as a true rifle when it's plain as day that not one Covenant weapon, with the possible exception of the Brute Shot, is rifled?

A rifle is a weapon with - get this - a rifled barrel to improve accuracy. I'm well aware that some Covenant weapons are nicknamed rifles due to the fact they're the closest counterpart role-wise, but they are not, by any stretch of the imagination, rifles.

By the way, particles are matter, right? Newton's laws still apply, therefore they cause recoil as they are propelled from the weapon at huge velocities in large clumps. You are incorrect on all counts. Thanks.

but in the ON topic discussion about the scarab, if it is going to be scripted scenery, will it be destroyable? i think it would be really cool to have a scarab running around on AOTCR and maybe have a longsword drop and bomb it. and if you do that, maybe a blue screenflashing damage effect or lense flare or something? that would make it like h3's explosion (maybe, im no effects master)

Well it's perfectly possible to have a Scarab walking around on AOTCR but having a londsword drop a bomb on it then have an explosion blow it up might be abit difficult.

Yeah, Longsword bombings only occur when defending Earth cities. The humans aren't attacking Halo, they just happened to land on it. (go watch the Halo 2 Demo from E3 2004, instead of a scarab, it was a giant scarab turret that got bombed by two Longswords and got destroyed in a big esplozion!)

wheres the aerial battle in halo 1? i suppose you could say those moments when you fly a banshee in aotcr count, but theyre not really epic like the fights in the second and third game...
