I just got The Orange Box last week, and I've already beaten all of the singleplayer games. Everything was quite epic. I then remembered a thread on here about the HL2 mod, MINERVA: Metastasis, and looked that up. That was epic/awesome ^ >9000. I can only compare it to H1's The Silent Cartographer, but ten times as long, and with some of the most superb interior spaces. Now, I'm looking for any other godly mods that I can download, now that I have The Orange Box. Any recommendations? Thanks!

I don't know anything for Episode Two, TF2, or Portal. For HL2, there is Substance(really recommended), SMOD, Mistake of Pythagoras, Riot Act, and thats all I can think up of for single-player. For multiplayer, download Insurgency. That's all I have to say.

Thanks. Also, The Orange Box comes with HL2 and HL2e1, which was the main selling point for me. I wouldn't have been able to stand having to buy each game separately.

Have they even released the Ep2 SDK yet?
They're both multiplayer mods, but check out Zombie Master, Source Forts, and Dystopia. The three might seem like BS alone, but if you get in a server of good people, they're some of the most amazing games out there.

Source SDK 2.0 is released and is now the default SDK that is used. To get to the old Ep1 SDK you'll need to add "-engine ep1" to the shortcut.

Sourceforts, empires, gmod, dystopia (very rarely).

Insurgency is the most popular online mod right now. It's not Call of Duty 4, but its good enough to stand alongside it.

Zombie Master is really fun. I just wish servers had faster map downloads, or a site with all the maps like halomaps.org.

I couldn't go through with that mod. I don't know why. Probably because I typed in impulse 101 and the mod felt boring afterwards.

While we're on the subject, are there any mods for HL: Source?

The HD pack?

DayHard was confusing and buggy as hell for me at first. But now I'm getting the hang of it. Also, Fortress Forever (http://www.fortress-forever.com) is an awesome mod.

Minor bump.

Something I recently found. Half Life 2 Co-op, which is awesome.
www.synergymod.net
Basically, you run through the Half Life 2 campaign or some custom maps together as a team. Recently they added support for Episode One.

Obsidian Conflict is better from what I hear.

Can someone give us a hand in installing mods and maps for HL 2 games
so portal, TF2 and HL2

i've tried installing these maps manually by downloading but i've failed. And all of the files havn't come with readme's explaining it step by step for retards such as myself, so i'm in a bit of a pickle.

i got a map for Portal and placed it at this spot in my computer
D:\steam\SteamApps\zizlah\portal\portal\maps
Now the map has a .BSP extension on it. Yet in Portal when you try and import a custom map it needs to have the extension .bmz. So effectively the importer cant see it.

D:\steam\SteamApps\zizlah\team fortress 2\tf\maps
Same thing in TF2, i Got Jahrains map and placed it in the maps folder yet i cant see it in game, and in TF2 (from what i can see there) isn't a map importer.
E: Managed to get Jahrains map working. and i have no idea wat was wrong :/

And does anyone have any info, or have you played with the Synergy Mod? If so any words of advice for getting it up and running?

It's probably something stupid, but if i can get these questions answered once, i wont need them answered again.

cheers

Change your aspect ratio to 16:10 and select 1920x1200.

Download the full 1.1 release, and install it in your Sourcemods folder in your steam folder. Restart steam, and you should have the mod in the games tab.

Woah... Eh..? No idea. I found this googling it: http://www.techspot.com/vb/all/windows/t-18030-Memory-problem-in-Half-Life-2.html
Don't know if it'll help.

I guess Synergy just hates your computer. There are two other mods if you want to play HL2 co-op: Obsidian Conflict and Follow Freeman(I'm not sure if thats the name).

Also, Smod Redux V6.

this is the only problem i've ever had with steam.

everything else is down to sheer retarded person controlling it.
