Anyone ever watched these 8 short films? They were directed by acclaimed film directors such as John Woo, Stellan Skarsgaard, John Frankenheimer, etc. BMW (Bayeriche Motoren Werke) hired these guys to make the movies in 2001 and 2002 to further promote their already-popular BMW automobiles. Each film starred Clive Owen as "The Driver," a professional driver mercenary who transports people and cargo in various BMWs.
All these films were free (but BMW no longer offers them for download) so I am not violating any copyright laws by posting these Youtube videos.
A warning - if you're looking for a serious plot, look elsewhere. Just sit back, watch the action, and for some of you, wish you owned the BMW being featured. By the way, these films inspired "The Transporter," which was a crappy film with great driving scenes.
Ambush (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L99b7sZvb2Y) - The Driver chauffeurs an elderly diamond thief while evading armed men. Features the E38 model of the BMW 7-series, which preceded the current model.
Chosen (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6TKa59Z3dRo) - The Driver transports a holy Asian child immigrant to a holy home, with assassins after him of course. Features the BMW 5-series E39 model.
The Follow (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bc2USDrWagY&mode=related&search=) - The Driver is hired by a paranoid actor to tail his wife, whom he believes is not being honest. Featured the BMW 3-series coupe.
Star (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nK87YLmagt4&mode=related&search=) - The manager of a spoiled and bitchy celebrity hires the Driver to chauffeur the bitch to a film venue, but while deliberately driving like a road hog during the trip in order to "teach her a lesson." Features the BMW M5 (high performance version of the 5-series).
Powder Keg (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FgOOU0z_Pik&mode=related&search=) - The UN sends the Driver to rescue a wounded war photographer from a war zone. Features the BMW X5 SUV.
Hostage (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7hFX48fY5k&mode=related&search=) - The cops enlist the Driver's help to speedily rescue a hostage. This is my favorite of all the films. Features the BMW Z4 convertible
Ticker (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NfjOK-6c4Lk&mode=related&search=) - The Driver protects a wounded diplomat who carries a mysterious briefcase. Features the BMW Z4.
Beat the Devil (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ADzTu2NM8Lg&mode=related&search=) - The Driver literally races with the Devil. Features the BMW Z4.
Discuss! These are probably the best car advertisements ever produced, although if I owned a BMW 7-series, I definitely wouldn't ram it into vans full of armed thugs.
