PVT, because I'm just that hardcore...that and I couldn't pass the 60% on my run before I shipped to BCT to get the promotion to PV2...

No worries, I graduated a Pvt from basic as well. Welcome back to the real world. Are they going to give you some leave before your MOS school?

Korn! I missed you. Welcome back. So what will you be doing now? In the military that is? Will you have a good deal of free time or are they shipping you somewhere else?

I start my MOS training Monday, so no exactly (I'm a 44C btw)

And I'm sure mined can say this himself, but AIT is basiclly like high school\college, in that you goto class duirng the week ("normal" work hours, like starting at sometime b/w 7 and 9am and getting out at like 5 or 6pm).

I won't be able to tell you how much free time I will get once I'm fully graduated until I learn more about how my MOS works.

Kornman! :omfg:

Glad you're still checking up on us. :) What's odd is how I checked your profile just a day before you posted again on Gearbox because I was bored and to check your date of last activity, then the next day you log in and post.

Oh, and thanks for the reminder about the four image limit. I just raised it to 100.

Heheheh, been a while since I last saw rep, especially +rep  ,

I'm at AIT right now, just finished with our 2nd test about 20mins ago. O yeah, and today is our 3rd class day ;x.

AIT is alright, but for the most part I think I liked BCT more. The the only reason I don't want to go back to BCT is that I can actually use electronics and can go off base on the weekends :X

Korn, why don't you name a few of the triggers you got to put you fingers on, so everyone here can salivate...

Hopefully you had the pleasure of firing a MK-19. That was one of my favorites. Auto-grenades FTW.

Ft Jackson, SC

Sweet! My friend is there right now. His training started this monday. I don't know his company or anything tho he gave me a call from there last thursday. Next time I hear from him I'll ask for his info, go find him lol.

Kornman00
October 4th, 2006, 03:03 PM
I'm at AIT right now, I take it he called you from reception (1-20th AG Bn) and is now finally in Basics? I think 2-60th Inf Rg ("40 rounds") graduated last week, so that my be his unit. If so, tell him "40 rounds, battle" for me

lol, their talking about MOS's...military occupational specialty. It's the acronym for your job in the military. For example, 42A is a Human Resource Specialist. 63B is a Light Wheel Vehicle Mechanic.

korn, as we all know, you have a lot of talent in the computer arena. If you aren't happy with your up and coming MOS, you should seriously talk to someone in your command (when you get assigned to a permanent one) about secondary MOS's or schools that could get you assigned in some more interesting areas. *hint* intel

~A.
October 8th, 2006, 02:53 AM
What's your MOS mined? I'm thinking about the 0300 field but I don't know man. =? help lol

mined
October 8th, 2006, 10:33 AM
Mine was 6173, CH-53E crewchief. I had a secondary MOS of 6113, CH-53E mechanic. I was also signed off as a Collateral Duty Inspector and a Plane Captain which meant that I could sign off on almost all aircraft maintenance as well as sign the aircraft as "safe for flight."

As far as the 0300 field...I was also a WTI graduate as well as a Aerial Gunnery Instructor. Not an 0300, but I fired .50 CALs out the window all the time.

I know reserve soldiers can enlist with 2 MOS's, but I'm RA, thus I'm stuck with this same MOS until my contract is up or voided. Although I have access to special Army classes online that also add to my promotion points...which I need alot of if I ever want to become an NCO.
In the 44 series, you need like 740 points to get promoted to E-5. As apposed to say 11B (Infantry), which only needs like 360 points or something like that...

Do you actually get to chose what you want to do in the military?... Thats pretty gay if they force you to do something you don't like. And what does a Finance Tech do anyway?

You choose your job when you enlist and are guaranteed that job. In some jobs tho, you pick the field and they put you in where they need you most, like if you wanna go as infantryman, you will go in as 11x -- they will decide whether you go in as a direct fire or indirect fire. ;)
In cases like say you try out for SF and fail miserable, you become the needs of the army and they will put you where ever in the hell they want to. haha lol

when your time is up can they force you to stay or do they bs you to get you to want to stay

~A.
October 24th, 2006, 12:15 AM
They can't force you into reinlisting... Although even when you do decide to leave, you are not fully out yet. Say you served active for 3 years, after leaving you go into Individual Ready Reserve for another 5 years. What happens in the IRR? You can get called back into active service whenever they need you. So, basically when you enlist, you are in for a minimum of 8 years.
