Here's a a Glock 17 that I've been working on on and off. It's a plane modelled in 3ds Max 8 and contains about 550 triangles. The final will have less than 2000 triangles after optimization. I made it to practice my modelling, and I might put it into Halo, I don't know.

I'm working on the grip right now, and I hope to have it done by the 30th with textures, normal maps, and reflect maps. I will keep posted.

Wireframe. It's kinda distorted, I'm just guessing it's the angle.

Any constructive criticism would be appreciated.

Glocks are fugly, but the model seems alright. Someone's inevitably going to come in and have a go over the barrel being hollow and having so many sides, but I'm a detail whore, so that won't be me.

Thanks, and...
The model in the picture has only about 350 faces, I miscounted, because I also counted up the grip which I'm working on.

1) Wireframe please
2) You don't need to model the interior of the barrel (YOU CAN'T SEE IT ANYWAY >=U)
3) Your barrel has way too many triangles - lower the number of sides down to like, 8 - 12 at most.
4) The back of your slide is wrong.

5) I would recommend that you get more of your weapon done before you post updates, as right now there isn't much to crit.

I would also suggest that you watch this (http://www.moddb.com/tutorials/24143/creating-a-weapon-for-source) tutorial before you continue with the model, although it doesn't look like you need it too much.

I like to model the interior of the barrel. The whole barrel is less than 40 faces out of 250 faces (i'm optimizing it and I got rid of 100 faces and still counting) that my glock currently is. It won't make a difference in performance and it looks nicer in renders IMO.
Although, you're right about the whole back end thing, I'll get right on that.

Take the word from us experienced in the field, a few triangles makes a huge difference in these older engines. Remove it. Also, where are your wireframes? wait, nvm, i just woke up.

Ahh I see. Okay then, I will.

Pretty sweet imo but then again' I'm not anal about model accuracy and I'm no gun specialist.

So were you ever going to finish anything but the slide?
