He has a tutorial written up, but you'd need a recent build of the tools and the game extension to actually set the shader_model's new detail map fields, and to actually see them ingame (if the map isn't being ran with OS, then the game won't render the detail maps, so your map is still compatible with stock maps)

We're getting close to another release candidate. We're rolling with an MSI file this time around, which does all of the installation for users.
