Thread: Human Guns, how do they work?

  1. #1

Question Human Guns, how do they work?

Well, i mean, what do human guns (in Halo) use to fire. They cant use gunpowder because they fire in space (no oxygen for gunpowder to ignite, right?). So?... anyone know?

this is kind of random, i know, but im curious.

    It's just a game...
And why would a bullet not work in space. It should be sealed to where the interior of the shell can combust and create enough pressure for the bullet to be propelled outwards.

Re: Human Guns, how do they work?

The mechanics aren't any different from modern day guns. Read Halopedia.

The M6D Pistol is a recoil-operated automatic firearm chambered for 12.7mm (.50cal) armor-piercing, high-explosive bullets. The MA5B Assault Rifle is an automatic rifle chambered for 7.62mm NATO armor-piercing rounds. The M90 shotgun fires 8-gauge magnum shells. The sniper rifle fires 14.5mm armor-piercing fin-stabilized discarding-sabot rounds. The rockets are fired just like any modern RPG launcher, except the rockets are stored in a 2-pack magazine instead of being manually reloaded every time.

As for them working in space, keep in mind that the single-player story did not have any playable space settings at all. The only map set in space is Boarding Action, which also contains other anomalies that are easily overlooked due to the fact that the map is fun to play, such as gravity and players' armor being overpenetrated yet not losing life support functions.

It's a self-contained cartridge, why wouldn't it work? You set off the primer and it goes boom.
