I'm looking to buy both a pistol and a rifle. Throw me a cheap yet decent pair I could buy. California, so whatever restrictions apply.
I like the M1911 or a Glock...but idk.
Good thread, considering i just got my NRA membership card in the mail yesterday...still waiting on that "free shooting bag gift".
My old man has been keeping me in guns the past few years. Keep getting them as christmas presents. The only thing bad about that is christams is after hunting season lol.
few years ago I got a Remington 900 12ga (up to 3.5" mag), mossy synthetic stock w/ pistol grip. got a chance to shoot some clay with it a few months ago and did terrible, most were in the dirt. I really like how the gun feels and i'm going to make a point to get out for spring gobbler this year.
this past christmas he gave me a Remington 7mm black synth. It comes factory with a 3lb pull, believe me it's touchy but it's fully adjustable. The stock is a junior size, which, although i don't need it, makes the gun much lighter and a better fit when you've got your your camo and orange on. I can pull it up dead on fully dressed in my super-cold-weather gear.
I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. Although i suck with open sites i'm deadly with a scope. just have to spend the money for mounts and maybe a Leupold. I've also never owned a brand new rifle before and i'd thought i'd season the barrel by using 1 shot clean for 10 rounds, 2 shots clean for 10, and 3 shots clean for 12, and then maybe fire 3 or 4 boxes through it while sighting it in. Any thoughts on that?
I fell in love with the German mauser rifle. My grandpa brought it to the shooting range for me to play with and it was just amazing. I don't know exactly what model number it was but it looked like this:
It was so much fun to shoot, and the action was nice and smooth. In stark contrast to the m38 mosin nagant, which had a really sticky action and far more recoil despite not firing a bigger round. I also fired my grandpa's SKS rifles (he has 6 of them, I only fired 2). One of them is a legit one thats seen its fair share of action. It has graffiti in a couple different languages from all the soldiers its served. Beautiful weapon, wish I had pics of it. I hit a gong at 200 meters with it.

With my bare hands
My Enfield shoots to the right, though that may just be the because of the fact that the target was too close for the sights, and notch sights aren't the most accurate anyways.
Still, thing kicks firmly but not obnoxiously. Bolt needs some more wearing in.
Also, Federal Ammunition is dirty. Just in case any of you use it.
I've wanted one of these for awhile since they're Non-Restricted and would be great for hunting. $1,640 USD, which is $640 CAD more than the Browning BAR LongTrac 30-06 we just bought if you factor in the CAD conversion rate.
Since you're in the USA though, you could probably get an issued M14 for relatively cheaper if you look around...
I'd love to have a nice Garande. There was one at the Cabela's near here but it was in shit condition. There was also an old old mauser for sale but the swastika's had been ground off, making it practically worthless.
