Welp it looks like I'll finally get the only thing I really wanted all along:
CARPETS!!
You know, I just recently finished a nearly two week long game of minecraft with some friends on their server. This guy installed buildcraft and industrialcraft on his server and invited his friends to come play with him. The idea was that they would get some cool machinery going then my friend and I would spectacularly destroy all of it and put it on youtube for lols (as seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4nDqkAa6TtY). For those of you who don't know, industrialcraft has nukes. This would be our tool of choice.
It evolved into me and my friend forming one team and the server owner and his friends forming another. My friend and I decided we were an arm of the Soviet Union and built a secret under ground nuclear base out on an island in the middle of the ocean. The next two weeks were spent in a cold war style arms race with the server owner. We intentionally left deceptive signs, chat messages, and buildings all over the terrain. We also recruited more of our friends to fight for the glorious red army. We had recon missions to scout out the enemy base and steal resources. One of our guys even recorded a whole walk through of the guy's base right under his nose, so when the time came to plant nukes to blow his base up, we knew the layout already.
Finally the time to strike was upon us and we sent 3 of our guys in to plant all sorts of nukes, which we would detonate with the remote dynamite detonator that industrialcraft adds. The guy caught us planting nukes and he managed to break some of them, but it was too little too late. Our nukes exploded and destroyed his base almost entirely. We lost one of our guys from radiation poisoning. Overall, it was a very successful raid and the soviet union emerged victorious from the not-so-cold war.
My point in sharing this story is that playing this type of meta game totally rekindled my love for minecraft. All these new features in 1.6 are cool, but I just have no desire to play because there's no real end goal. Having this enemy that we absolutely had to nuke (believe me, this shit took priority over sleep) and having to think about exactly what we wanted to do and how we were going to do it to achieve victory gave me an adrenaline rush unlike any I've had before. I'm sure most of you guys are more into building, but this shit was tons of fun.
If the modacity minecraft server is stagnating, somebody could turn it into the modacity cold war server. I'll be your comrade all day long there.
