Eh, that was more or less a rough estimate. Whatever it is it's much higher than the original version. I mean, if you've got a way to get 90 FoV on Aleph One I'll gladly use it but trying to play it with the normal FoV makes me goddamn motion sick.

I cringe a little any time someone says they can't play a classic game because graphics.

But anyway just get the XBLA version of Marathon 2, it's easy enough on the eyes.

A game could look old like PacMan, Mario Brothers, or Warcraft -- and if someone said they couldn't play it because it's not bleeding edge graphics I'd agree with you.

Some games just end up looking like a mess when they get older though -- and if someone couldn't play it now because of it I wouldn't feel bad about it.

It does not really need to be old either... Nintendo Land just looks like a cluttered uninspired mess and that would detract me from playing it. ((Which actually shocks me -- as Nintendo usually makes do REALLY well with low resources...))

But there are some games that rot down to that very quickly... whereas others hold up well.

I see where you're coming from but as said before, Marathon is hardly painful to look at and many games that suffer from that problem tend to have graphics mods that make them look better (See: KMQuake2, Jedi Knight Enhanced, etc.)

How could it possibly be any worse than Halo which uses 30 fps and FOV 70? Personally I find Marathon a lot easier on the eyes.

Speaking of FOV, Aleph One uses the original FOV which is godawful while the XBLA version uses 90.

I play newer games. I liked ME2, and Sonic Generations for example. I just happen to play and enjoy old games as well. Not really sure how that makes me a hipster.
