Since this is a site full of harsh critics I'd like some opinions.
I posted here before like 3 years ago me singing greenday well here's round too. I think I greatly improved. Please let me know??
1 change keys, your singing too close to your speaking voice. have the guitarist use a capo if he has to and find a more comfortable range where you feel more resonance and power
2 learn to breathe so you can project and control the soft tones. singing loudly might seem counter-intuitave but strengthening your diaphragm will give you greater control at the end of the phrases
3 proper breathing will eliminate some the upper throat/nasal passage singing. were you nervous? proper breathing technique will help if you find you're short on wind from the rush
breathing practice tips:
practice humming until you feel a resonance jump similar to what happens when guitar strings are finally in tune. vibration should be felt at first squarely in the throat and then throughout all your passages when done properly. your nose might itch.
lay on your back and breathe:
30 seconds in (filling first in your gut up towards your chest but not so much that you "lock" your lungs)
30 seconds hold
30 seconds out
i.e., 1 full breath every 90 seconds
you can put books or bricks or whatever on your stomach to build strength after you've mastered breathing. it's all about working your diaphragm, increasing capacity and control. also, this technique works pretty good on hiccups.
if you have the time and money find a singing coach/teacher. everyone from beginners to pros use them and the ear training is worth every penny. Mic and headphones are always helpful during practice. so are stage monitors during live perfomances.
otherwise you have some natural ability and you sound pretty good. Hope your having fun in front of the crowds... I always did.
