    Setting up a Dedicated Server

    Hi All,

    Looking for some help here.

We have set up a dedicated server on one of our boxes which is a W2K3 machine.

We have run the server with the 'h2server -lan' command and the server appears to be running.

When we go into Halo 2, we can't see the server in the list, actually we don't see any servers in our list.

Is there somewhere in Halo 2 where we can just enter the IP of our dedicated server like in Halo 1 or is there something else we need to do.

Do we need to set up the Silver account with the dedicated server even if we're just play on our own LAN?

    Cheers for the help.

To play a LAN game, the server and the clients need to be plugged into the same hub/switch. If there is a router between them it won't work.

If you want to play over the Internet, run your server in Live mode. Go make a free silver account and configure your server to sign in under that account. Then go find your server in the game browser (listed as that silver account), or set a description and search for it on Live.

For a game of this kind that seems to be quite a bit of a limitation for a dedicated server.
