Try UVW unwrapping faces of the cliff, thats what I always do. Comes out better.

it's easy, it's just a big jigsaw puzzle.

and you could just google for 5 minutes.

tweek's analogy is good, its basically arranging the faces into a 2D map that allows you to make custom textures and apply existing ones better.
