I've spent a total of two hours on the phone with Microsoft tech support trying to fix my issue with Halo 2.
When I try to sign in to GFW Live, I get an error that reads
Before I called, I tried the "solutions" on the gamesforwindows.com Live support page. (If you read them you'll discover that they aren't solutions.) The "solutions" it suggested wereThe profile could not be signed in to LIVE. There may be a network problem or the Windows Live ID service may not available.
I checked my account at account.live.com, and I could sign in just fine. Afterwards, I called Microsoft, and spent two hours on the phone with them. After trying many different solutions, he asked me if I had a router. Naturally, I told him I had one, and he told me that was the problem. He said I could not sign in to LIVE with a private IP address, and that I would have to bypass my router. WHAT?! I know some of you guys have been getting it to work with routers. There was a problem signing in using your Windows Live ID. Verify that your PC is connected to the Internet. To check your Windows Live ID, and go to http://account.live.com to verify that you can sign in to Windows Live. You can also try signing in to your account at www.xbox.com.
