Halo CE menu won't load

I just installed haloce at my friends house but everytime i load it the menu wont show. I can hear it but it just stays at that HALO screen. He using windows vista home premium. I saw a forum saying to go under control panal and go to graphic display but I can't find it. Can someone help me? FAST PLEASE!
